The yellow on De Guzman for the "foul" on Iniesta a few minutes earlier was just silly.

Did anyone else really want Ramos to slam an OG in on that Dutch cross a few minutes ago?

I think this is the first year that Americans really have some interest in the World Cup (thanks to ESPN/ABC pushing it because they own the rights and because it's in Brazil i.e. exotic, time zone etc) but WC officiating is always terrible.

In the words of Miss Teen South Carolina, "US Americans".

Hey! I beat my man! I got the break on him! My extra effort got me some space! I can make a move on the goal if you give me the ball!

Oh. I'm offside.

What? There was a TON of American interest in the 2010 WC.

I do love British commentary. Describing the Dutch WC history "the would be kings, the 3x bridesmaids"

And when ESPN used that goal scoring technology "not sure if we needed that. Someone's got a new toy"

I'm trying to get into it but with the way things currently are the results are too tainted. Changes need to be made and how they haven't been already is astounding

The problem is that FIFA insists on using a set number of referees from each of the continents, and only one team per country.

That's why we get guys like Koman Koulibably and Jorge Larrionda.

I'd much rather have multiple sets of Italian referees--usually the most highly regarded), than Guatemalan who works as fishmonger in his spare time.

Yeah, but the viewership numbers weren't as high because of the 7hr time difference.

If you don't like it, don't watch. What else do you want from us?

The Dutch are set up entirely wrong. 3 CB's vs 1 ST is not going to work. I understand why they are set up this way, to free Sneijder, Van Persie and Robben for attack, but Costa is going to run around that back three all game. His movement is way too dynamic.

In fairness to that poster, he's right. Diving and officiating in soccer are worse than in the NBA. And it's not really close. This, from someone who's favorite sport is soccer.
