It's kind of odd seeing the changing of the guard. I hate to see some of these players go out like this. As good as they have been over the years I would have enjoyed a more fitting end. This game is a cruel mistress though.

Yeah and the US is hungry. I like the fact that we are in a place that we are scratching and clawing and committing everything we have toward success. We haven't earned the privilege of expectation yet. It's all new and fresh and if we win a single game there is jubilation. I much prefer that to considering it a failure if you don't win the whole thing.

We are in the golden age of the DLP, and I feel like this WC will be the last where we will see the apex of that play with Pirlo.

This team is so much like 02 France, but they played much tougher teams than that side did.
I definitely enjoyed watching the 1998-2002 French teams more than 2010-14 Spain though.

I really liked the 2008 squad. Euro 2008 was the best tournament I have watched, and they were just awesome there. Peak Villa, Torres with some level of confidence and competence, and the team still played in a way where they liked to score goals.
The past few years they've looked like they'd rather win games 1-0 and have 80 percent possession.

I was going over the roster they brought to the WC, specifically the ages of the players, and noticed that there will be an incredibly large amount of turnover for the next World Cup, maybe not as much for the Euros, but it will still be a lot.
From the roster who do you think they even bring back for the Euros or WC?

Yeah, I loved Senna, especially compared to a punk like Sergio Busquets. I really enjoyed that 08 squad, even if it led to Aragones running my club team into the ground for a season and Guiza passing out in every single ditch in Kadikoy, probably.
I have to think the next generation of the Spanish NT includes Iniesta, Fabregas, Ramos, De Gea, Busquets, Thiago Alcantara, Isco, and Carvajal. There's a lot of talent, even though some of it is redundant.
They need to find a forward to replace Villa though. They haven't played with a good center forward in quite some time, and if I was in charge of the squad, I would take Torres out of his misery and stop calling him in. I have to wonder if Costa will be a one hit wonder. Maybe Llorente can be an answer?

how good is zaldúa for sociedad? seems young and inexperienced, but we've been heavily linked with him so I assume he *should* be an exciting one fit the future
