Ellston Logan @EllstonLogan So next time Gio Reyna is invited into the #USMNT camp he's probably asking which teammates voted to send him home. Good work, @ussoccer . You are a joke organization unworthy of our own players. That's the truth. #BerhalterOut
Wondered who the 12 were? My guess who voted twice:
Aaron Long
Yedlin
Ferreira
Morris
Shaq Moore
Christian Roldan

I know you're just laying MLS bait out there, so I'll let someone else bite, but if it was like the McKennie vote in nashville, the votes are public. Gio knows.

Imagine if the Argentinian coach sat a prime Messi.
Ok, now we've jumped the shark on this.

Fans: Gregg sucks because he won’t play Gio
*comes out that Gio was giving no effort in training
Let's think about the timing of his poor effort:
quote:
Reyna showed an alarming lack of effort in training ahead of the U.S.’s opening match of the tournament against Wales on Nov. 21, including in a scrimmage against Qatari club Al Gharafa SC on Nov. 17. Reyna’s lack of intensity in the scrimmage — sources described him walking around throughout his time on the field during what was otherwise an intense session — caused significant frustration within the team. The lack of effort was so pronounced that it was unclear whether Reyna was protecting against an injury or just frustrated that he was not set to be a starter against Wales.
You seem to be saying, in defense of Gregg, that he didn't play Gio because Gio gave poor effort in training, but the bolded part above flips it and says the lack of effort was after he knew Gregg had him on the bench.

"it's not the same because Gio isn't Messi". You missed that part, or did you intentionally partially quote to be able to score a point?
I clearly used Messi to demonstrate the principle, the reason we tend to side with players on national team questions, especially when the manager is a chode.

Honestly I stopped reading because that quote was so ridiculous.
Even reading the whole thing, it's an apples to playstation 5 comparison.

You either are an accountant of some sort, or in legal work.

So you just don't understand the concept of a principle?

That’s why I think he’s an account or engineering. He doesn’t get nuance and principles.

Guys at that level would normally give their left nut to win(look at Pulisic….) To not even want a talented player on the team is an unreal sign that guy must be toxic
Half of the team, in the most important moment of their careers, didn’t want arguably our most talented player to be there because he was such a self centered, petulant a-hole. End of. This isn’t a Gregg issue this is a Gio issue. I think Gregg handled it fine during the tournament. I’m 50/50 on whether he should have said anything after the fact. There was context to what he was saying, in regards to leadership and dealing with difficult personalities. He did not say who it was so that really is not on him.
I’m legit curious to know what the “he’s got talent so he can behave like an a-hole” posters do for work in their own professional lives.
Berhalter probably lied to the media to protect Reyna… Saying he’s injured looks better than saying he’s half assing it during training and scrimmages. But people here will still blast GGG for it because reasons.

I don’t think any of us have been siding with Cristiano Ronaldo at this World Cup.
And obviously he’s had significantly greater success in his career than Gio.

I need to revisit the Wynalda thread….. he seemed to be more right then wrong (yet still a douche).
Not sure what the basis is for the ‘he was injured’ argument. A lie by Gregg?
They were playing him against Qatar city team when he was too hurt to play meaningfully coming up against wales and England? Sorry - can’t buy that
