If greggo can’t man manage one of the best talents we’ve produced in a while and the future of the usmnt obviously he isn’t the one to lead this group going forward.

Here’s the story I alluded to on the herd and talked more about on the podcast. One thing I didn’t reveal yet that isn’t in the story - the vote to send Reyna home was 13 stay, 12 go home
Sources: US almost sent Reyna home from WC

Answer: Tactical inability/stubbornness.
Then why did he play Gio before? What changed?
Posted on 12/11/22 at 8:29 pm to Broski
The rise of Weah on the wing which was due to injuries to Gio.
It doesn’t take a lot of evaluation to understand Gio can play the 10, and you can get your best XI on the pitch, if you just use a different formation.
Gregg can’t do that, so Reyna became the victim of that. It’s not Reyna’s fault his manager is an imbecile.

Gregg found ways to get Pulisic, Weah and Reyna on the field in the past.
Again, what changed? It's just funny that you won't even consider that Reyna wasn't 100% and apparently pissed the team off enough that 12 guys voted to send him home.
But yeah, bad Gregg.

If this is true, Gregggg had his team vote on whether or not sending a teammate home from the WC?
What a way to not man up and take the responsibility as a manager, but passing the burden on your players, thus potentially splitting a team.
What a fvcking disgrace.

I answered that, in part.
The other part? Gregg’s “Where’s Waldo” with the strikers all through qualifying and the past year and a half.
Again, even if Reyna was hurt, that wouldn’t explain slacking in training. This was building for a long time in Gio, and he isn’t in the wrong for it. It isn’t his fault that his manager appeared to have regressed in his ability to get the best XI we have on the field.
Is it a bit entitled to act like that? Sure.
Is he wrong for it? Maybe.
Is his evaluation of the situation he is in wrong? No.
And why do you avoid the fact that Gregg initially called it a “knock”, but then walked is back when later asked?
Maybe if Gregg didn’t lie about the situation, or God forbid adjust his system to his personnel like a professional manager, then this wouldn’t be a problem.

Again, 12 players voted to send him home.
This is clearly more than Gregg and Gio not seeing eye to eye. This about Gio needing to mature, which he will, but with all the info out there, the only issue I have with Gregg in all of this is that he mentioned this (albeit without using names) at this stupid summitt.

That was a reference to cwil, not you Broski.
You’re actually one of the more levelheaded posters here. It just eludes me how you can’t understand that the genesis of this situation lies with Gregg’s mismanagement of the talent pool.

Gregg can frick off.
It's the world cup, it happens every 4 years. Gregg needs to stfu and play the best 11.
You aren't smarter than the game even though you think you are Gregg.

point is when Long and Yedlin are the teams leadership and they are the ones speaking to Reyna you have a problem.
Yedlin was the only one with any WC experience on the squad, is indeed viewed as a leader on the team, and can most definitely relate with Gio as he's had his own issues over the years with attitude and effort. Whats a 20 year old gonna tell another 20 year old about life
And I hate Gregggggg as much as the next guy but some of y'all fiercely defending Gio because of fricking tactics is hilarious. We always joke about Gios body language and tantrums for both club and country, but deep down we've should've seen this coming.

Based on all the reports/data that's out there, my best assumption is:
1. Gio didn't come into camp 100%
2. Gio took it slow in training because he wasn't 100%
3. Players got pissed Gio wasn't trying
4. Gregg didn't feel comfortable starting Gio because the last time he did, Gio subbed himself out after 30 minutes
5. Gio, wanting to show the world his talents, hoped to play vs Wales, pouted that he didn't go in because of all the factors listed above
6. Gio becomes even more of a malcontent in the lead up to England, more players get pissed
7. shite comes to a head with the player vote. Gio gets to stay (barely) but must apologize.
8. Leadership council holds him accountable beyond a "Sorry guys *shrugs*"
9. Gio plays in two of the next three matches despite not being 100%

Gregg just burned his chances of coaching the next World Cup for the US and I love it. He just split the locker room and the support of former players with everyone choosing sides.

This is what is important here. No chance the USSF chooses Gregg over Gio's potential.
And the fact that Gregg is saying this shite at conferences tells me he wasn't coming back even before this became public.

Holy frick.
But yeah let’s just go with “Greggg bad.”
quote:
“The sources, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter, said that Reyna showed an alarming lack of effort in training ahead of the U.S.’s opening match of the tournament against Wales on Nov. 21, including in a scrimmage against Qatari club Al Gharafa SC on Nov. 17. Reyna’s lack of intensity in the scrimmage — sources described him walking around throughout his time on the field during what was otherwise an intense session — caused significant frustration within the team. The lack of effort was so pronounced that it was unclear whether Reyna was protecting against an injury or just frustrated that he was not set to be a starter against Wales.”
“The drama surrounding Reyna crescendoed during the Wales game, when Reyna threw his shin guards after not being subbed in, and then into a post-Wales training session in which Reyna’s lack of effort continued again. It prompted several veteran players to speak with Reyna, including DeAndre Yedlin and Aaron Long, who pulled him aside and urged him to show more effort moving forward.”
“The sources said that the situation became untenable and that it had to be addressed multiple times, including with the coaching staff, until, finally, Reyna stood up before a video session and apologized to his teammates for his initial lack of intensity and said he understood he was part of a collective group. After the apology, several players on the team spoke up to hold Reyna accountable for his actions. Sources said players believed the group and its culture would be able to overcome the issues after Reyna’s apology, and that the 20-year-old turned a corner in regards to his effort in training. Within the team, the issues with Reyna ended there, the sources said.”

The larger issue is who the frick is leaking this shite. Because the same thing happened with Wes' thing in Nashville.
It can't be Gregg because why would he do that right before qualifying began?
This shite should not be getting out, because a lot of locker rooms go through this stuff and it's not that big of a deal once it's settled, but it becomes a big deal if it becomes publicized.

Again, I don’t know if it’s true, but if it is, this has to be the dumbest thing to come from Greggg.
In any managerial position, the last thing you want to do is cause a division with in your own team (whether sports or business) by leaving them to vote. Classic 101 mismanagement mistake leaving it to the WC’s youngest group of men get all Lord of the Flies on each other.
Again, if this comes to light, causing this conjured up drama, perpetuating it in order to preserve your vibes culture is simply cultic. You want the change the world’s view on American soccer? Act like a true Gaffer and take the responsibility.
