I would imagine that the guy is left footed, didn't want to give up a corner b/c he had time so instead of kicking it to the sideline with this right foot, he decides to blast it across the goal with his left.
The amazing part is how many professional soccer players can't kick with their weak leg. Robben might as well play without his right leg, yet somehow he still schools everyone and scores with his left every time, even though you know that's what he is doing.

I agree he's probably left footed, but he didn't have to give up a corner by turning the other way. Like I said, it's safer to turn the other way even not knowing who's there, to try to play to a teammate, than it is to blast it across the front of the goal.

He's right footed. He's also a midfielder. Sometimes, when playing in the back line as a midfielder, you forget where you are on the field and do something that you really shouldn't do. I may, or may not, be speaking from experience.
