Anyone have any more information on this topic? How will this affect Fox Soccer? Seems like this would effectively kill the channel.

Saw this as well. And it does seem like FSC will die. This is ok with me as long as a carrier that broadcasts in HD gets it. It is frustrating only getting to watch one match a weekend in glorius HD.

I'm sure your provider will pick up bein if they get the rights. Idk what that NBC channel is though.

Fox has rights to the Champions League until 2015 I think and rights to the 18 and 22 WCs. It is difficult to see how FSC will survive. Not to mention ESPN has no big time soccer rights for the foreseeable future after all the money it invested into building the sport's popularity in the US.
Really hope beIN doesn't win it. Would be terrible for us consumers for one network to hold all the soccer rights.

Wow. This is very big news. Fox has now lost its major interest in soccer at the same time they will be taking over world cup tv rights. Espn has now lost most of its USA soccer interests as well. This will be a big step up for NBC, who is certainly the best case scenario at this point. I'm hoping bein is focused on the Latina american market being based in Miami and broadcasting la liga. If they win epl rights it will be a disaster, they do not have wide coverage, although I expect that to be fixed soon, and more importantly they would need 3 different channels.

I wonder if this will be a similar to Serie A and La Liga with BeIn where they had outside agencies merely taking the highest bid without also considering which network had better distribution and would therefore do a better job promoting the league in the American market.
Seems that after all gnashing of teeth from Serie A owners about the BeIn deal after the fact, the EPL would be more wary.

NBC Universal is the entire NBC conglomerate...matches could be on NBC, NBCSN, NBC Universal Sports.

Hopefully at the least they would require that a certain number of matches are broadcast, otherwise matches must be sub-licensed out as Fox now does with espn.

I really hope NBC gets the bid then. I know BeIn would adjust and more cable providers would be forced to add the channel, but I feel like NBC would be much more established.

I don't know. NBC having EPL rights could be HUGE. Consider that they don't show NFL games, so soccer could be NBC's mainstay in sports. Well, except for NBA and Notre Dame football. And a lot more people get NBC, and NBC sports than Fox Soccer, which most people STILL can't get in HD!!!! I'm fricking looking at you COMCAST.
