Will make Mexico being grouped next world cup even funnier
But I'm not opposed because even with shite teams, you will have a true knockout stage with even sides of the bracket.
The Euros allowing 4 3rd place teams (of 6 groups) in the knockouts distorts the knockout stage
Same with the WC this year with 8 3rd place teams of 12 in the knockout stages
At least with 64, you get a true 1st and 2nd place team not some 3rd place Portugal 2016 Euro winner with 3 draws in the group stage.

Going to 64 really takes a lot more drama out of qualifying but there will be some extra teams that can actually put up a fight added to the group stages.
It's also going to be great for smaller countries in Europe that kind of get the short end of the stick by having to qualify against all the Euro heavyweights.
That's good for tourism in the host countries too.
