RB Djibril Sidibe from Monaco completes loan to Everton. From EFC:
Marco Silva says he saw in World Cup winner Djibril Sidibe "a real desire to play for Everton".
The Blues boss also believes the loan signing of the AS Monaco defender has left him with two "high-quality" right-backs, with the 27-year-old now set to vie with Seamus Coleman for a starting spot in Silva's side.
Sidibe, became Everton's sixth summer signing on Wednesday evening, with the Blues having the option to make the move permanent at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
Silva stated last month that he wanted to add a right-back to his squad before the transfer window closed after youngster Jonjoe Kenny was allowed to join German side Schalke on loan.
And speaking to evertonfc.com, the delighted Portuguese said: "Djibril has fantastic experience, winning titles and playing many matches in a competitive league.
"He is a World Cup winner and he has the hunger to achieve much more in his career.
"It is important to have different options in each position and with Djibril and Seamus we now have two high-quality right-backs.
"Djibril has also shown to me he has a real desire to play for Everton and be part of the big things we are trying to create."
Sidibe has made 114 appearances in three seasons at Monaco and was named in the Ligue 1 team of the year in 2016/17 after helping his club to the French title.
He previously spent four years at Lille, having began his career with hometown club Troyes.
During his time with Monaco, Sidibe contributed directly to 27 goals – scoring six - and Silva says the defender's offensive qualities were a big sway in the decision to bring him to Goodison.
He added: "Djibril is a strong defender, which is the most important thing to play in our backline.
"He also has the capacity to attack, crossing and linking with his teammates.
"He showed with many assists at Monaco how he can help his team at both ends of the pitch."
After all the moves this will be the first time we've actually used anything from the transfer budget.

We spent a shite ton of money, even without Zaha. Hope we can continue the momentum from last season. This preseason has been anything but encouraging.

We really haven't spent anything until our next signing. With all the players we've sold we're damn near even.
We signed Gomes, Kean, Gbamin, Delph, and Lossl for around £82.
We sold Gana, Lookman, Vlasic, Onyekuru, and McCarthy for around £82.
Solid business from Brands and Silva.

You’re right. Forgot that we had to pay for Gomes.

Zaha deal is dead, according to Sky.
I'm ok with this if we have a backup plan. The money was ridiculous.

I'm ok with the window, but has finished with a thud
Probably didn't get worse despite some key players departing, didn't get considerably better (but perhaps laid the groundwork for some leaps forward with the likes of Kean).
It just seems to be a pattern, the whole flirt-with-"statement of intent"-signing only to have that signing not go through and then not have any viable back up plan.

Probably accurate description.
I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't sign or loan in a CB. A winger to compete with Bernard and Walcott would have been a bonus. Only an hour left.

Iwobi to Everton.
Big upgrade over Walcott. I imagine he'll compete with Bernard for the opposite wing of Richy.
Still can't believe we didn't sign a damn CB.

So our only CBs with first team experience are Kean, Mina, and Holgate. Am I leaving someone out? That’s really thin considering Mina was hurt a lot last year and couldn’t break into the starting XI consistently even when healthy last season.

Yeah the window would be a B/B+ from me other than CB
I'm not sure how you just totally neglect it.

I guess they're thinking that Gbamin can fill in at CB. Hopefully Holgate takes a big step forward this year.
I like the additions of Kean and Iwobi, but I'm worried about the defense. We were garbage last year without Gana and I don't think we did enough to replace him.

You're correct. Keane, Mina, Holgate, Gibson are the only true CBs. Anyone else has to be moved out of position. Gbamin is the only logical option. Which puts Delph at CM.
Great window, but failing to sign a CB could really hurt us.

Supposedly Digne could play CB in a pinch
Posted on 8/8/19 at 1:27 pm to Cap Crunch
Seems like he would get dominated on set pieces

Splashing that cash on our way to another 7th place finish
Nah but hopefully this time it gels and we can challenge for 4-6. Somewhere in there.

I’m praying Mina steps it up this year.
Hope we come out of the gate strong.

Any idea about the starting lineup tomorrow?
I think Baines and Delph are out.
Keane will start?

Keane will start
Kean won't start, I assume. Hopefully he'll get 30 minutes or so though
Don't think we'll see much of the new dudes otherwise
