Don’t move the goal post

You know exactly what he was talking about

When people talk about academy players they mean from your own.

So how does this work, with CL spots and Europa spot to CL?

If Atletico win Europa, they basically screw Europa out of CL spot, since they are in already?

Also, if Liverpool would win, they still take one of 4 English spots, or does it go to 5th team?

I know they changed some shite for champions and for europa champ to get in and wasnt sure how they did it for champs already in with spot

I believe it's like this:

1) If the Europa winner is already in CL, that Europa spot just goes to create one more play-in spot for the teams already qualified for CL play-off rounds.

2) CL winner still does not get an extra bid for their league. They just take the place of 4th place team from their league if they didn't qualify by finishing top 4.

EDITED: # 2 incorrect

They do get an extra spot. Max teams a single league can have now is 5 so Europa league or Champions league winner can be added in addition to top 4. Can't take 6 though so if Europa league and Champions league winner are from the same league and both outside top 4 then the 4th place team would lose out I believe.

And previous cup winners were entered straight into the group stage but not sure if it stays that way now that some of the top leagues get 4 guaranteed into group stages. Somebody posted a chart at one point that explained it better

So CL is just like Europa League now: 5th spot but only if the CL/EL winner is not already in top 4?

That'll be great news for Lazio when Roma wins this thing.

it happened last year when mu won the EL and finished outside the top 4. EPL had 5 teams in the CL.

I didn't know that they had changed it for the CL winner to work like you mention for the EL . . . thought CL may still be like it was when Chelsea won and took Tottenham's (I believe it was) place.

One time Everton was gonna take Liverpool's place, then they went out and won the whole damn thing and they had to rush and make an exception for the Pool
