IMO, the three back is the future.
It is IMO. Pep
2-5-3 or 2-4-1-3 isn't out of the question either, IMO.

Do you think Italy's decision to play 4-4-2 instead of 3-5-2 influenced the outcome? Despite it being an emergency formation based on injuries in the first match, it seems like the perfect formation to have a go at Spain, especially when they use the false 9.
I would have liked to see the 3-5-2. It was an emergency decision in the first match against Spain but not completely out of the blue. There had been a lot of talk about Prandelli maybe using it in the run-up to the tourney since so many Serie A sides are using 3 man backlines right now...
In fairness to Prandelli though, Italy played pretty well and Spain going up 2-0 had more to do with them learning from "mistakes" of the first match where they continually let Italy get their shape back by playing too many lateral and back passes when they won back the ball. In the first match, Italy could take a lot more gambles to win balls and play difficult passes simply because Spain wanted to be so meticulous in their buildup.
Not to mention, if Chiellini had gone down with Italy in a 3-5-2 they probably would have had to change anyway.

Btw, Dandy, if you read this, I was wrong about you. So far you have shown great restraint in the midst of victory.
Don't frick it up.

Er. A German journalist has just asked Andres Iniesta if he enjoys "the shower after the match" more than any other aspect of football...?!?

Inappropriate would have been more appropriate for Xavi anyway.

what he said.
dandy i never said italy deserved to win it. just saying it could've gone differently if not for the injuries/blown opportunities.

peace out
i just didn't appreciate the showboating. I guess I am an idiot for not being on the "Spain GOAT, futbol pantheon, gorgeous play" bandwagon. Like I said, I respect iniesta and xavi as the two best players to do what they do in the history of the game. I don't care for ramos, busquets, etc. I won't apologize for wanting someone else to win the next one.
