EPL getting a winter break in the 19/20 season?

An agreement for an annual two-week winter break in early February has been agreed between the FA, Premier League and Football League, commencing in the 19/20 season. Under the plan, the fifth round of the FA Cup would be played entirely in the middle of the week and without replays. The idea is that all Premier League clubs will have at least 13 days without a match

Can’t visit the link right now, but assuming this means the match congestion during December will be gone?
I get why they are doing it, but I have enjoyed those Decembers where you could pretty much watch a match four or five days of the week.

The xmas to mid January time is awesome
so much football
pretty much this time of year clubs do warm winter training camps any chance they get.

Two weeks aren't long enough... Don't some leagues take two months or so?
Do that, cut the EPL to 16, and have them all start a round later in the FA Cup and League Cup so the EPL clubs start in the round of 32 rather than the round of 64

The league’s that take longer is because of the weather
Winter in England isn’t that long compared to congenital Europe.
Also not all the premier league clubs start the League cup in the same round.

Russia takes 3 months
Yet we still kicked Celtic's arse (European games start before league games)

Russia can handle it but MLS can't figure it out and continues to play their most meaningful games when the American sports calendar is at its most congested. And then they wonder why they only capture 7% of the US soccer market.

You are right but no need to bash MLS in this thread
But yea play the first half of the season in the fall, shite the MLS Cup is in December. Go on winter break in December, resume play in march with fixtures played indoors or warm weather climates.

Another way to cut the replays down, is to offer the Minnow a chance to pass on being home team, and allowing larger club to have home game.
Minnow gets Major $$$$$ from the tie being in EPL stadium. shite, that money could keep the teams a float for a few years.
First time i had seen this was in Swedish league on Football Manager, supposedly it's a way for smaller clubs to get more revenue. Both sides win.
Championship clubs and even a League one might not give up the home game, but if ur some Vanarama National League club, you can get a huge pay day playing at Old Trafford, like a club did a few years ago, the money they got from return trip to OT, paid their salaries for several years.
We all like the minnows, but sometimes $$ is better than getting your brains beat out in front of ur 1,200 fans.

IIRC, this is against FA rules aside from extreme circumstances.

It’s a better way than I would have thought off to introduce this.
The one thing the EPL can’t lose is the Christmas schedule, it’s brilliant and managers coming over and complaining about it need to shut up about it. Most sponsees will push for them to go and play friendlier in the Middle East or somewhere anyway.
Fans in Spain for example might not want it but here we do, it’s a great time to have full houses because kids are off school and so are a lot of adults off work too.
Still have football every weekend just a reduced number of games.
