I have no idea where this stereotype about The Hoff being a idol in Germany originated.
I always just assumed that it was oft repeated mainly for poking fun at Germans.

If we put together a complete game we can win. Germany sure as shite didn't look invincible against Ghana. shite it took Mesi being Mesi for Argentina to beat Iran.
Play well and hope that no one on the back line goes full retard and we will be ok.

I was under the impression that it had a lot to do with Germany's fascination with Baywatch.
The movie "Dodgeball" ... true underdog story or something like that ... further mocked Germany's love of The Hoff.
LOL ...

Is it because of his concert at the Berlin Wall?

If we can advance and Nigeria beats Argentina, we could be looking at this as our quarter of the bracket...
Equador/Switzerland
Nigeria
Belgium
USA
Do want.

While we are it, replace Belgium with Algeria because it is mathematically possible.

I just pooted.
I've come up with some crazy scenarios about what would benefit us.
With the most likely scenarios we would have a tough draw coming in 2nd. If we somehow win the group we get France in the 1/8.

Pretty much no matter what if we advance we are in a good position in the knockout stages.

Belgium and Argentina is the most likely route for Group G second place. I am not terribly scared of Belgium compared to other group winners, but them plus Messi's boys will be brutal.
A possible Algeria/Russia and then France slate is much more manageable for the first game alone. France look lethal though.
However, if you want to make a deep run, then you have to get absurdly lucky and beat the best.

I mean, yeah, but those are 2 pretty large if's. Even with Argentina not really hitting their stride yet, this probably isn't going to happen.
Belgium doesn't terrify me. Their talent is ridiculous, but the expectation of being a favorite is still kind of a new thing to this group of players. They could be ripe for a round of 16 disappoint.
Either way, if we want to make a real memorable run in the knockout rounds, we will have to go through some teams who almost certainly have better players than we do. Not to mention ze Germans in a couple days.
I can't wait man. This tournament has been so damn fun to watch.

Yes.
They've shown they are vulnerable.
