he has proved to not be that great with them. lucky he made it friday, last june when he took one it was right down the middle on a little dribbler that any solid keeper would have blocked. Donovan should be taking them.

Sometimes I hate that we have certain people who are "undroppable" and "always take the penalties" etc

He didn't play well, constantly tried to dive and took a poor penalty. I won't say he was awful but a very meh performance lately for the states.

16 0g landon's 57 USMNT goals are pks. He should be the pk guy until he retires

Jozy slotted them at AZ. Him or Donovan will do but not Dempsey.

Agreed. It seems with Jozy's rise, he has fallen a bit.

Donovan should be all over these, especially against Mexico. He just loves crushing their dreams.

If you watch donovan's USMNT Goalography, he's scored a pk for us in about every conceivable way. His placement and decision making on pks for us is generally superb.

Donovan skying one, or purposefully letting it stall just before the keeper, would have been absolutely epic.

He would be insanely rich from the advertising gigs he´d get in Mexico.

Granted, he could never set foot in the country again, but hey, that´s OK.

I don´t miss the place (and my wife still tells Mexican jokes and stories to this day, who by the way, is not one given to make fun of anyone. The place was THAT bad).

I think Donovan's career PK percentage is somewhere near 90%. He is flawless for his national side from the spot. No one else should take them ever.

I don´t think so. The aftermath and celebration didn´t look so, either. I may be wrong.

No way he missed it intentionally with GD being an ever-important factor. And you are right about his reaction, he was douching around like usual while the rest of the team celebrated. He's easily my least favorite of our "elite" guys.

He has been very apathetic it seems lately, compared to his days with elaborate dances after goals. Maybe the armband has "gruffed" him up a little bit.

He did show a little emotion on Landon's goal.
