I tried to find per 90 comparisons but couldn’t.
You could just find the total minutes they have played and do some simple division/multiplication. Total stats divided by minutes played multiplied by 90.

It does seem pretty clear to me that Frank is probably hoping to deploy us in a 4-3-3 next year with Kante as a lone holding mid with Mount and either Kovacic or Havertz on either side in more advanced positions. Mount would probably be the more box-to-box guy if Havertz came.

I believe Mount will get more respect when the team progresses as a whole. He's shuffled around a lot. Our midfield balance has been off horribly with Kante being injured huge chunks of the year. When we're able to high press as a unit for larger periods of a game next year, people will see Mount's value more from the defensive side of his game. This will be very important for us as well since it seems we're not addressing defensive issues with the squad.

I get the impression that he will be dropped deeper next year, in a system like you’re describing. His skill set would benefit the team most both carrying the ball between Kante and the front line, as well as covering wide areas defensively, which is so important for the 8 in a modern 433.

This is kind of what I was getting at with my post, albeit now I’m seeing that my views were based in a theoretical “best case” scenario, which just isn’t the reality at Chelsea right now.

Good god a midfield of Kante-Mount-Havertz feeding Pulisic and Werner is going to be a blast to watch. Kovacic coming off the bench to replace Mount, or vice-versa is straight cheat mode.

I was about 8 beers in after the trophy lift. Math was never an option.

Mount played 3,488 total minutes this season (2,789 PL minutes).

Pulisic played 2,221 total minutes this season (1,649 PL minutes).

Being cautious in expectations =/= Not seeing Gio as being able to compliment Pulisic in any way, which is what you originally said.

After further reflection, I've changed my mind on Gio. Gregg should make him a must start going forward.

We good now?

I think Landon’s harmless...unorthodoxy (including his “failure” in Europe) distracts people from how good he was.

Kind of tough to compare players across time periods, particularly in this case because Pulisic does a lot of similar things. With his off the ball movement, way he uses his acceleration, and directness (at times), he can definitely look a lot like Landon.

To date, Landon is the most dynamic player we've produced and it's not even close, because unlike Dempsey, Donovan at his peak was just as much a threat to set up his goal as he was to score a goal.

Pulisic at 21 right now though is playing like Donovan was in his prime.

Dude, you're the one who entered this thread by saying you don't see any player in our pool who can reach a level like Pulisic.

There's a chance that none of them will, because that's hard as frick to do. I just think it's hella short-sighted to already be of the belief that none of these 17-20 year old players we have coming up have no chance of doing that.

Unless he goes to one of the top 3 I don’t think a move to Spain would benefit him.

I would even argue that moving to Atletico would be a bad move.

You basically go to a Chelsea equivalent while playing lesser competition outside of 4 La Liga matches a year.

Are you talking in terms of stature or style of play? Because Lampard's style of play could not be more different. The last 10 years, sure. But Diego Someone would've actually murdered every defender and Kepa by Christmas this year.

Stature.

In the last decade, always in the champions league, always competing for a title and will win it one or two times but not as much as the other top table teams.

Yeah, I think that's a pretty fair assessment. They'd have some league titles for sure if they were in England and not behind Barce/Madrid.

Chelsea needs some back line and GK help ASAP. As a Liverpool fan we always scored but until we got VVD and Becker we were pretenders.....fun to watch but we weren’t raising any trophies. This is referring to the last 8 years or so not the Rafa teams.

Several outlets have reported we're going to look for a GK after securing Havertz deal. We've also been linked with Jose Gimenez a lot the last couple days.

Yeah it is a bit unfair to compare these other kids to Pulisic and say they won’t be as good as Christian. Christian has been one of the best players in the premier league since the restart.
