Mata did as good as he could have with just 2 days of training with the team. I only expect him to improve over time. I think he is a great buy. If we could only add Modric to the other side, we would be a team that is truly dangerous.

I like Mata. It pains me to see him go to such a suck arse club. Torres I understand, he's a greazy trailer type bastid, but Mata, man, that's just sad.

A team that is truly unfair on FIFA.......seriously, how many shite players use chelsea for kick it and run...at least 70%

Sheep, if you are serious about Kalou, I have to question your CFC fanhood. He sucks.

I know.

I like his style of play, though. It was the "pacy" winger (Robben, Joe Cole, SWP) that brought me to Chelsea 6 or 7 years ago.

Kalou has his moments, but they're few and far between.

Well, who do you play with. The only thing unfair for Chelsea is that Drogba is full out beast mode near the box. The good clubs don't allow the kick and run, maybe a counter or two, but not every play. You use Canaries?

Cech said he expects to be back by the Man U match. Hilario has done well, but I'm excited to get the roster to full strength.

We have catching up to do

I'm glad that we got Meireles signed to add to the midfield. I haven't seen him play much, but e got signed to a 4 year deal, so Villas-Boas must be impressed. What are everyone's opinions on how and where he'll fit?

He is good, but he needs to play forward. Tough to see right now where he will fit in. I imagine he will be a 70th minute sub type player. Which he would do well with. Hardly worth 10M IMO.

I think he'll side in nicely in the B2B role of a 3 man midfield, especially with Essien injured. I could even see him get time at AM since Lampard is really old.

Good question, but Chelsea play a lot of games so he'll certainly start. Chelsea have a lot more options with him in the squad.

I'll swallow the 10 million on him easier than the 40 we would have spent on Modric. It will at least hold us over until January.

His impact will probably come down the line.

Malouda is on his way out
Essien is on his way out
Mikel is likely on his way out
And at least a couple strikers will be offloaded in the very near future.

The move doesn't make too much sense as far as immediate impact, but I can see him getting down the line. Although he is 28 so

Re: Meireles

I like him as a player... buuuuuuuuttttttttt.

Certainly Ramires will be better, long term. I'm not certain that Ramires isn't better now.

Agree. Modric may indeed be a better player, but the price on him had gotten way beyond ridculous.

So what does everyone think with Mata? Does he start Saturday? I think so.
