I think he starts. He can get used to everybody on the fly. He didn't look out of place last week.

I definitely think he starts with malouda possibly coming on for him late. Im more interested in how the midfield three might change (if not this game then somewhere down the road) where does miereles fit in

You may see him sub late for a few games. I think his role will expand when we get into all the midweek stuff also. BTW, it was fun this weekend when I went to Busch and saw the Redlegs take 2 of 3.

So what does everyone think with Mata? Does he start Saturday? I think so.

I think he starts. I'm actually starting to believe that he was one of the steals of the transfer window. I'll give it a few more matches, though.

Yeah, the whole leaving Lukaku off smells like a January loan to me. I just hope Cech and Luiz are healthy.

Im not so sure (thought they probably might loan him out still) this article talks about the reason he was left off, so it may not have to do with a loan. like the way he looks for a long term central striker though for sure

Each club is only allowed to have 17 non-homegrown players (I think). Looks like Lukaku was left out because of his lack of experience.

Chelsea has a lack of homegrown talent and they couldn't even fill a 25 man roster.

So the article says he counts as homegrown for EPL but not UCL. What's the differing rule?

How am I supposed to define something that I am asking questions about? I don't know what it means. That is what I am trying to figure out.

He isn't homegrown..yet. By the time he turns 21 he will be (since he spent 3 years in an English system).

On a side note, the word is Drogba is out until at least the Man U match. So who does AVB go with up front?

Are we going to see Torres, Anelka, Kalou yet again?

Don't forget about Sturridge. AVB didn't loan him out so his suspension is up and will be part of the squad this weekend. I think he'll see a few minutes this weekend.

I'd like this. I just think Mata is going to play in the midfield.

Sturridge

I hope you're right Bho. I've wanted to see him get some action for a while. I can all but guarantee Torres and Anelka will start. That third spot is up in the air.

Mata should be the third spot. He should play left winger. That is where Chelsea will get the most out of him. It's his natural position. If there is no room up front, AM.
