Goals cure a lot. This team is scoring so much better than a year ago so we’ll win more matches.
We still don’t have a top shelf striker so our goals are inconsistent from match to match.
People anchor so much on the result (rightfully so) but any given match has 6-7 moments that can completely swing the score line. Convert them and it looks like you kicked someone’s arse…and the flip side with the opposition. I don’t think the average fan gives enough acknowledgment to the chances that don’t show up on the goal tally.

I agree and this group has shown improvement, but there are matches like against Wolves when I easily believe the opposite. There were not even any chances to blow. I’m fine if James, Chilwell, and Silva find new teams in the offseason. Gallagher and Palmer are the leaders of the team anyway.

I agree, we’ve missed many many chip shot goals this season but that’s not the concern. The back line is bad. They fold under high press pressures, are weak and lazy passers and are absolute shite on set pieces. Silva is showing his age but still may be our best CB. That’s a huge problem.

Yea, whatever offensive improvement there has been has been easily offset by the calamitous defending.

ESPN FC did a great job breaking down Pool and Wolves matches
Chillwell doesnt like to go backwards, badiashile is prone to mistakes and Silva hates going out to the sides because he is slow
so go over or around Chillwell, force the CBs out of the middle and the middle opens up
over and over
against pool, Badiashile and Chillwell were so bad and silva was helpless filling in the middle when badiashile went out to the side
against Wolves, poch changed the lineup and put Silva on Chillwells flank and it was even worse. Silva goes to the outside and Disasi was struggling to fill the middle
against AS, Poch used Badiashile and Disasi and sat Silva and the CB situation improved immensely with more speed
scoring two early on took AS out of it too
I think Silva’s time as a frontline starter CB is probably over, TYFYS

Good breakdown. Chilly is a liability on D and always has been, but really helps the attack. In the past we’ve had better CBs that could cover his inability to fall back after an attack. Silva has lost steps and is now more of a liability which is a shame because he’s good on offensive set pieces. We need to ride with Bad and Disasi going forward.

pretty much
until we get colwill back
badiashile has a bad groin
next year we should have colwill and fofana back there and hopefully the CB problems get fixed
silva retires, cucurella gets sent out
disasi, gusto, badiashile, sarr, gilchrist get sorted

Conor with the Brace! Enzo with the Kill Shot. Very nice.

Bi-polar Chelsea showed up. First have was bad. Second half was the team we all want to see. Gusto played really well in addition to the usual suspects of Palmer and Gallagher. Cicado’s pass unlocked that first goal.

first half was shite, Silva went out at 61 min and Colwill came in
looks like Silva will be out for Saturday against Man City
happy to see them come out on the 2nd half and play with some urgency and intensity
you can see them slowly coming together and hopefully playing for each other

Is it sacrilegious to suggest selling Reece? Gusto has played well and Chelsea could get a good number of pure profit for selling James who can’t stay healthy. Just floating it out there.
Jekyl and Hyde Chelsea. But man, blues have Palace’s number.

not at all but James is homegrown, England’s Captain and a Bridge favorite so it would be tough to justify to the fans
but the club has a history of cutting ties with popular captains
dennis wise, cahill, terry, azpi
I doubt they do it though, james is too popular with some of the other young guys, unless james asks to be transferred out

Incredible patience by Sterling on that goal. Come on Chels!

Best half of futbol this year BY FAR. Tactics are sound- everyone playing deep and get some transition opportunities on the break. Disasi playing great. Midfielders keeping KdB quiet. Colwill doing what he can against Haaland. Keep it up Blues

Colwill makes all the difference
Haaland has had some uncharacteristic misses today
still MC 14 shots vs CFC 3 shots but CFC up 1-0 at half is crazy

CFC should have lost at least 3-1
look at how one sided the stats are
great one point result all things considered
Posted on 2/17/24 at 1:39 pm to supatigah
I think that was the strategy. MC will have most possession and we’ll get our chances on breaks. Should’ve bagged one more in the first half but those are the breaks. Thrilled with taking a point. Glad we have a week off before Carabao final. Well done, defense!

Lucky to get out with a point. Haaland rarely misses those sitters.

On a bright note Gusto was absolutely electric
