He’s often compared to VVD. Beyond the obvious he’s said to have a similar game and perhaps similar potential. He’s not today’s solution, but could prevent us from continuing to have today’s problem well into the future.
This is what I love about Frank, he’s thinking with longevity along with immediacy. Ultimately we have to solve both.

Eh, he's good and a for sure upgrade on what we have.
I didn't want to touch him with a 10 foot poll for the 80 mill that was getting thrown around. Im seeing 45 mill though and I don't hate that move for that.

I am not a fan of Chillwell. I personally don’t see him as an upgrade at all. I can think of three or four other players that I would prefer in that spot. Our issue is at center back more so than left back. We need to upgrade the left back spot as well, but I don’t see him as being the signing to do it.

I think it will be either rice or Gimenez. Rice is young enough we could wait another year and possibly get both. But with the way roman is spending why wait?

All these big transfer fees are making me worried about leaving enough £ in the pot for a keeper.

i like Rice alot too, but i think our shot at getting him this season died when West Ham stayed up. 80m is ridiculous and he doesnt seem the type to force a move like Chilwell seems to have done.
might as well let him get another season under his belt to make sure hes gonna be worth the fortune they want. maybe we'll all luck out and west ham will finally go down next year so we can swoop in and get him on the cheap.

For the price, he's probably the guy I wanted least of everyone we were linked to. He's not a superb defender. Better than Alonso? Yeah. As good as Alonso going forward? No. You're essentially paying 50+ mil for a guy who is an okay upgrade over what you have. And we're talking about a LB, not a striker or anything. This is like almost world record type money for that position. He'll be like the second or third most expensive outside back ever in a deflated COVID market. The guy isn't even close to that good.
