Alright, Blues, need your help.
What kind of starting XI do you think Chelsea will trot out for tomorrow night's game? Are we looking at a youth-filled lineup or more regular starters?
Also, are there any normal starters that aren't on the tour roster for whatever reason (maybe Olympics)?
Trying to get a short MLS All-Star Game preview done, needed to know what I should expect to see from Chelsea.
TIA.

I like Chalobah at right back and Sam Hutchinson as well but they need time to adjust
They won't get time to adjust to anything if they don't play some.

He'll pay the 40
Going to take more than that I'm afraid. If the number was ever 40 for Hulk I think Roman would have pulled the trigger.

but it still hasn’t clicked
It's preseason. I don't know what else to tell you. It's time for experimenting. It wont click in preseason.

Tottenham pursing Hulk
Can't afford.

I'll help you out as far as normal starters that won't be there. Torres won't be playing tomorrow and Sturridge and Mata are at the Olympics.

I don't even know what our starting XI will look like for a real game, much less a pre-season game.

Alrighty then, that's what I needed to know.

I think they will play more experienced players. Rdm stated today that he is Looking for stamina and we will see a couple players play the full 90 minutes.
Cech
Ivan, luiz, terry, cole
Mikel, lampard
Ramires, hazard, Marin
Lukaku
Torres will come on in the 65th minute; Cahill will play in second half as well as de bruyne, possibly malouda and essien but don't expect a bunch of subs at half

So awesome.
I watched Brazil vs GB the other day and I thought Oscar was the best player on the field. Great decisions, hard to dispossess, lots of energy. I'm really, really excited about him and I usually have tempered expectations for Brazilian super kids.
Luka Modric, frick off you twat. We never wanted you anyway!
Carefree!

Very excited to see what Oscar can bring to the Champions of Europe.

quote:ok I said it before the game and I'll say it again now. Even though Torres didn't play, our offense and midfield lacks big time. Did anyone notice they keep playing the same
I liked him there to better than anyone else last season but he is not that good pushing up on offense. Do not confuse that statement with corners kicks or free kicks b/c he's brilliant on the ball for those situations. I like Chalobah at right back and Sam Hutchinson as well but they need time to adjust and we need something there. Roman will buy a RB before the window closes. You might laugh, but I bet Roman gets hulk before the summer ends. He'll pay the 40 b/c our offense still needs something else. Watching the PSG game, I got the same old feeling I had last season. I know we were missing Torres and we played some in the first half and Marin and Ramires in the second half, but it still hasn’t clicked. And with Tottenham pursing Hulk, I think he pays the amount asked to make sure AVB does not succeed. It will be a "pride" buy, book it.
Old stuff out wide, looking for a way in but end up giving it up. Right now, hazard is the only one with balls to take anyone on. We need hulk or maybe a quality second striker. We look bad and let's be honest, we have all preseason.

Lukaku taking defenders on one on one is cringe worthy. Torres despite his form gives the whole team more of a threat up front and allows the whole offense to open up.

Chelsea lost their target man (Drogba) and that's the real problem. With Lukaku showing little to no threat, width is almost completely negated due to Chelsea's inefficiency at really utilizing it. This allows teams with much less talent (AKA everyone Chelsea has played in preseason thus far) to pack the middle of the pitch with very little worries.

Marin has looked good too. We really need to have Torres on form.

How are Chelsea and the navy the same?
Posted on 7/25/12 at 10:48 pm to LSUSOBEAST1
quote:that is the real problem. They are playing the same tactics as if Drogba was still on the team. They want to play this small ball but when it fails and they can't keep up with the passes, they revert back to playing width and making crosses. Problem is, Drogba finished no matter what. Marin's been decent, but he has one move and it's only preseason and everyones figured it out already (go right, cut in left, pop back out right... Shoot and get deflected). Roman knows we need another winger and it will be hulk

A little early to push the panic button. We have a ton of new guys who are trying to find their place in the team. We haven't played anything near a starting XI yet. We are playing two teenage strikers and our most creative player is not here. That said, Hulk would seem to be just what we need as a right winger but more importantly we need to sign a quality RB. Having never really seen Sturridge up top I'm still torn on what we should do about the striker situation.
