I'll just leave this here...

What Hazard said when reports compared him to Messi:

Hazard told SunSport: "Messi is the world's best player and it's a bit of an exaggeration to say I can be that good.

"But I am happy if people see similarities between us and being compared to Messi makes me think about what I can achieve with Chelsea rather than the obstacles I need to overcome to get there.

"Ultimately it's the coach who will decide if I play in a similar role to the one Messi plays for Barca but I am looking to succeed the Eden Hazard way."

Love how he responded...

More of that attitude and I'll start warming up to him a lot more.

half way through the pre-season, here is my assement of the current team.

Malouda- transfer
Essien- transfer
Lukaku- season loan (doesn't matter)
McEachran- season loan (somewhere he can play)
Kakuta- season loan (swansea, fulham)
Benayoun- release (terrible)
Sam Hutchinson- Loan to championship

releasing malouda, benayoun and essien should free up moves for Azpilicueta, Oscar and Hulk

I'm sure y'all have heard but apparently Oscar deal will be official Friday. Good news so they won't hike up the price if he has a great Olympics.

You believe a lot of what you read in European gossip sports papers.

I doubt Hulk and Azpilicueta will be coming in.

I was just about to post something on moves that were "on the verge" on happening and are likely dead.

I'm just assuming Hulk, Azpilicueta, Maicon, Cavani are all either dead or never really had much gas to begin with.

Porto won't be reasonable. I think it came close though. That deal is gone.

I think this was just rumor.

So what RB do we bring in? We've got to do something there imo.

I'm in a finance class in Atlanta and just laughed out loud at suggestion of Bosingwa and then Randy's poor typo but very valid point.

I would like to pick up another RB but I'm not sure that it's in the cards. RDM may feel we have young players at that position that he believes in. We need to get out of the mindset that every time a player leaves, he must be replaced with a blockbuster signing. There is lots of youth talent at Chelsea and RDM knows far more about these kids than we do. I can see Chelsea at most bringing in one more player. Malouda to somewhere in Brazil is the only player I see as possibly leaving as well.

Am I the only one who really likes Ivanovic at RB? To me he really looked more at home there than at CB.

I guess the problem is can he play there every match? We will need some depth there

Eta: Don't say Paulo Ferreira.

Who? Chalobah? I have high hopes for him but I'm not sure he's even close to ready. Also, yes I do like Ivan at RB but I don't want him there every game, especially when he'll need to cover at CB some as well.

I totally agree and I'm not saying we have to go out and get Dani Alves or Maicon but we do need someone servicable that can spell Ivan and play meaningful minutes if needed. I think Ferreira is past that point and Hutchinson hasn't shown me much either in his limited time.

I agree that Ivanovich would be a great first choice RB (though ha can be a bit slow) but i do agree we need depth there. I think its worth noting that Bertrand played the entire Team GB game v Brazil at RB and looked pretty good doing it. I doubt thats a really viable option; with as many games as we have he cant be the only other fullback we have but if hes good enough to do both that would help.

After watching Maicon the past 2 seasons "dead" or "out of gas" could describe more than just the transfer rumor.

I liked him there to better than anyone else last season but he is not that good pushing up on offense. Do not confuse that statement with corners kicks or free kicks b/c he's brilliant on the ball for those situations. I like Chalobah at right back and Sam Hutchinson as well but they need time to adjust and we need something there. Roman will buy a RB before the window closes.

You might laugh, but I bet Roman gets hulk before the summer ends. He'll pay the 40 b/c our offense still needs something else. Watching the PSG game, I got the same old feeling I had last season. I know we were missing Torres and we played some in the first half and Marin and Ramires in the second half, but it still hasn’t clicked. And with Tottenham pursing Hulk, I think he pays the amount asked to make sure AVB does not succeed. It will be a "pride" buy, book it.
