Hopefully we qualify, make a nice run, then go after a big fish for the 2022 cycle. Bruce is the perfect stopgap coach, and he knows how the Hex works. We need a strong performance in the March qualifiers to get back on track.

I think hiring a complete unknown when we're last place in the Hex would be stupid. Going safe for a couple of years makes complete sense to me.

I always thought what Bruce meant by the foreign born player comment is, we aren't making progress in the youth setup here.

For keeping us on course for Russia, he's a smart choice. I don't think we should plan to follow that up with him at the helm, though.

This, and he was 100% correct.
But the other meaning has merit. Guys like Boyd and Brooks are rarities. I firmly believe bacon, chandler, and green probably chose the US as a business decision. Which is fine, i guess, id rather have them in the pool than not, but you cant deny that the squad has lost a lot of the spirit, under jurgen, that it once had. And i think that has an effect in the lockerroom, the pre-snow classico leaks all but confirms it.
