American fans in general are too prone to going full apocalypse mode over a few bad results. But that said I’m also not particularly encouraged by the results going into this tourney.

I’m not passing future judgement, just judging what I’ve seen. I mean, I hope you are right and all, but I didn’t see much to be optimistic about despite the experimentation and rebuilding angle. You experiment when you’re unsure of what you have, and while some of this was to be expected, the on field product so far has been below what I was expecting. Hopefully the next 9days makes all the difference.
