Being suspended for 1 game after receiving back-to-back yellow cards is dumb

Way too severe imo

Refs give bad/undeserving yellow cards all the time. Next game, you make one tiny mistake or your opponent makes one nifty move, and then you're out for a whole game?!?

Any soccer regulars/experts agree? Does FIFA ever rescind yellow cards (similar to how the nba rescinds technical fouls after further review)?

I only like the yellow accumulation rule when it's for cards in back-to-back matches.

I don't like it until the flopping/faking injury is more under control. Which may be never. There are too many cards given out on normal fouls that occur when the player overreacts

I agree with it when you get two yellows in the same match. I'm 100% against it card accumulation over several matches.

I think 2 in 3 games for a suspension is okay. But in this Cup, when do the cards get erased? Quarters?

He may or may not. He doesn't specify in the OP.

Can't remember if it's at the start of the Quarters or right after the Quarters.

I don't really like the rule, because it makes you play a lot more cautiously. So if a guy gets a card in the first match, it's going to affect the way he plays in the second and third matches. I think it may be ok at the youth levels to teach kids fair play and to maybe not play so recklessly, but not in the professional ranks.

I don't like any automatic suspension being triggered by an on-field official. Mistakes can happen, especially at full speed in real time.

Suspensions should always be based on a review of the videotape.

After. They changed it so players wouldn't be suspended for the final for 2 YC. I don't remember who it was, but there was a big name player who missed out on a final a few world cups backs due to this and people got pissed off.

Edit: It was Michael Ballack in 2002

He scored the only goals for Germany in the Quarters and Semis. That German team sucked, but they had a Florida Basketball type draw to the finals. The US had a great chance to beat them if the ref wasn't a dumbass.
