With them prepared to sign Julian Alvarez and their ability to rebound and be one of the giants in European football again, can someone explain how they got out of their financial hell from a few years ago so quickly?

My understanding is they gave up something like 20 percent of their TV and internet rights to a private equity group so they will have less to work with, but they got out of the short-term woes.

I’m not exactly sure what the private equity group can do with that stake in multimedia rights.

They haven't made many huge signings and mainly got guys on loans and frees with big salaries. Lewa's salary coming off the books gives them some wiggle room. I do wonder how they could afford a guy like Alvarez unless Atleti loses their minds.

The year they were allowed to register Olmo illegally was a huge swing for them.

They got smoked pretty good by the worst Chelsea team in 2 decades.

Spain subsidizes Barcelona with all kinds of deals.

But im sure the Camp Nou reno has allowed them to start selling corprate branding etc already even though its not complete.

Got it , appreciate it bruvs feels like they’ve hit on a lot of young talent recently too. Hitting on Lamine obviously helped a ton too.

Having another golden generation (Pedri, Gavi, Lamal, Balde, Cubarsi) has helped a LOT in filling gaps they couldn't afford to fill (in terms of transfers + salaries)
