Well, if we lose Saturday, we only have the league to worry about. I think we have a small chance. RvP is healthy. Depends on what lineup AW picks. Nani kills Clichy, so it helps that he is out. Also, PARK JI-SUNG IS OUT WE WILL DEFINITELY WIN

Man U is really good at home. At least we have the game in hand with them coming to the Grove in the league, but I'm never confident about any trip to Old Trafford.

Is John O'Shea out? I remember he even did well against us in the CL semi-final at OT.

yeah I suppose they are hurting too. I think Vidic will be back for them, so it helps that RvP will there to match up with him. As always, the least I can hope for is Patrice Evra being embarrassed in some way (even if he doesnt play... maybe SAFs gum will fly out and smack him in the eye or something)

eta: do yall feel strangely calm about Almunia being in goal? some how the seeds of doubt have disappeared in my instinctual evaluation of him. he fared pretty well against Barca, at least

No. He's a good shot stopper, which is what everyone has always said, but he's prone to some silly mistakes in important situations.

I don't feel that calm. He did well against Barca, but he's had matches like that before. He's solid, just too many errors to be a full time #1 at Arsenal. Glad we didn't sell him in Jan. or we'd be screwed. Really sucks because Szcz was having a nice run outside of the B'ham debacle. His distribution was much improved.

I hope Nasri plays in the CAM role against ManU. I doubt Ramsey plays. He probably should have stayed at Cardiff.

#AFC team to play #mufc: almunia - sagna, djourou, koscielny, gibbs - denilson, diaby, wilshere - nasri, van persie, arshavin

I like the lineup aside from doubt about how well Diaby and Denilson will do in terms of making smart passes going forward. Other than that I have a good gut feeling going into this one.

Seven (!) defenders in #MUFC team v #AFC: VDS, Rafael, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Fabio, Brown, O'Shea, Gibson, Rooney, Hernandez

Lulz. SAF has caught the Mancini bug

I guess O'Shea can play defensive midfield. Fabio is an odd choice though I guess.

I just hope this isn't a repeat of our earlier matchup this year where they got a goal against the run of play then camped out. Sure looks like it could be though.

It was also maybe the most fortunate goal ever.

I can't believe he's started 7 defenders...in a home match. We have to win this one.

How would this team do if by some miracle everyone could stay healthy over a full EPL/CL season?:

-------Van Persie-------
--Nasri--------Walcott-
---------Fabregas-------
---Wilshere-Song-----
Clichy-----------Sagna
-Djourou-Vermaelen-
-------Szczesny--------

Bench: Fabianski, Koscielny, Ramsey, Arshavin, Chamakh

Clichy isn't elite, Wilshere isn't experienced enough though his upside is staggering, chesney is also still green and walcott still needs to match his game with his speed.

I still think we're a 'almost made it' team with our best available.

Speaking of non-elite, go ahead and throw TV5 in that category. Djourou has the physical tools to be elite, but I'm not sure he has the instincts. We could really use a top-level CB. Sakho or one of the Dortmund pair would be nice. That line-up is amazing offensively, but would still have the defensive woes that have plagued us for the past 4-6 years.
