In news of the optimistic, Yoann Gourcuff played up his link to Arsenal this summer saying he was very flattered. Didn't dismiss it at all. Wouldn't mind taking a shot on him in January. Still has a ton of talent.

Looks like Kos, Djourou, Santos, and Jenkinson will be contention for the RB slot with Sagna out.

Ah, what inspiring options... I suppose Santos seems most appealing, since we have no idea how well Kos and Djourou can work the wings. All I know is Jenkinson looks like he needs a loan before he's ready

Why aren't we looking at Ganso? He's the best Brazilian prospect without the ever present "I'm going to blow up to an obese state, chase trannie hookers, and get loaned back to Brazil" factor like his more touted Santos teammate.

Probably because his price tag would make Anzhi Makhachkala's owner shudder

Well PSG are interested in him along with Meeeeeelan.

After selling Cesc and Nasri, I think we have the classic symptoms of "Mo Money, Mo Problems"

Less talent, mo problems.

Ganso, Gourcuff, Hazard, Goetze, Reus, Hernandes, Ribery, Banega, Eriksen, et al...I'll take literally anyone we've been linked to by various uncredible sources.

Pisses me off to see Mata kicking arse for Chelsea.

It's okay we've got Benayoun and Park Chu Young on the bench.

We spent money on Arshavin, and won big on the short term.

We spent little on our stable of skittish defenders, and lost.

Imagine that

I had a bit too much scotch to drink last night and ended up downloading some HD highlights of Arsenal's 2-1 win over Barca, aka the last time I was truly happy after an Arsenal match. No one pronounces "Arshavin" better than Martin Tyler.

If we can't beat hapless Sunderland tomorrow, I don't know what I'll do...

Speaking of scotch, I have a feeling I'm going to terrorize my body with alcohol tonight. The match is at 8:30am EST, I believe, and it's airing on FSC+. I'll be lucky if I find a quality stream, lucky if I even wake up in time and with enough focus to really watch the match.

Hooray for winning.

So, do you guys think we will be active in the winter transfer window? I'm talking a fairly major purchase, not just anything. Will it depend on if we are still hanging around for a top 4 spot or does that not matter?

I'm hopeful we will still be searching for an exciting, young, potential-filled attacking player, but I've given up on having any idea what we will actually do.

I bet we purchase another forward, or attacking midfielder. Right now RVP is the only one scoring goals, and he'll need relief as the season continues. Unless Chamakh starts scoring again, or Park Chu Young actually contributes something, we'll need reinforcements.

We also could do for another playmaker, with Wilshere still out, and Arteta and Ramsey not exactly world class options.

In the end, we'll probably just buy another unknown French defender or take an aging player on a free transfer.

Call me an optimistic, but I think we'll pick up some good ones over the winter. I think Chamakh might get sold back to France as well. Him not even being on the bench today probably wasn't a great sign for his future at the club. Sure seems like the smoke for Gourcuff has been billowing a lot lately.
