doesn’t feel like it

just read that arsenal is closer to tenth place than they are to liverpool

everyone talking about chasing #1 when they just as much can fail to finish top 4

Selling/loaning 4 attacking players (ESR, Nketiah, Fabio, Reiss) and only bringing in one attacking player (Sterling), who is absolute shite by the way, was always a disaster waiting to happen.

Arteta already struggled with trusting other players in rotation of his preferred 11, and then they went ahead and limited his rotation options for the whole campaign. Just terrible from Kroenke to Edu to Arteta.

We have 6 players who can play LB on the team but only 2 forwards, if you say Kai is a forward instead of a CM.

Liverpool have been on an incredible run and deserve the league title, but the Arsenal hierarchy screwed the pooch on this season with team building. It's always "next year" with this bunch when we should have won the league at least once in the last 3 years.

Lowkey would be fun to watch Reiss play in the current team and just give it a go. The shite he used to do as a youngster was amazing. He played well for us many times.

Oh well.

At this point, just put Butler at Striker. Why not.

David Ornstein on this week's Q&A: "He is a hugely influential voice, of course, but not the only one. Arteta wanted Watkins, however he doesn't control the purse strings and rightly so - he's the coach/manager!" Mikel was very vocal the whole window in calling for players. He didn't shy away from it and questioned when he ever said no to a striker.

Not that it matters now - and you hate seeing players get hurt, but everyone with a brain knew going with 4 healthy attackers the rest of the season was idiotic, yet here we are “keeping the powder dry”

Tim Lewis and/or Garlick are to blame for this shite we get to watch now

ETA, hopefully this helps:

Arsenal aim to appoint new sporting director in March. Jason Ayto, Dan Ashworth, Andrea Berta, Roberto Olabe, Thiago Scuro among names discussed or spoken to.

Do not want Ayto or Ashworth

If opposing clubs were smart (especially the ones with deep pockets), they would use the boards failure in January to try and lure Arteta away from us

Link to full article on the potential appointments.

This is who I’d like to see.

quote:

Andrea Berta Former Atletico Madrid sporting director Berta left the Spanish capital last month after twelve years at the club.

The Italian has spent time studying English in London recently to prepare for a potential next role in the Premier League.

Berta was appointed as technical director in 2013 before ascending to sporting director in 2017. He has supported manager Diego Simeone in sustaining a team that regularly challenges Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title, winning two La Liga titles, the Europa League and finishing as runners-up in the Champions League twice in that time.

The 53-year-old built his reputation in his home country, starting at AC Carpendolo before holding sporting directors with Parma and Genoa.

quote:

At Atletico, he is used to dealing with major transfers, having bought and sold players such as Antoine Griezmann and Rodri for large sums and signed stalwarts like Jan Oblak to create the spine of a strong team.

The summer window was an example of Atletico’s ability to regenerate their squad by acting decisively in the market, spending £180m on Julian Alvarez, Conor Gallagher, Robin Le Normand and Alexander Sorloth which has Atletico just a point behind the big two.

With Arsenal requiring the final touches to their squad, that experience of navigating the elite end of the market could be important.

Michael Oliver didn’t think this was a red card.

Var had to intervene. Mateta had to get stitches.

He should not be reffing the premier league next season. What a complete farce this dude is.

25 stitches. To his ear. Trust me, that’s a lot of fricking stitches for an ear.

If we sign Berta I firmly believe this summer we are going to spend big. Gonna find out real quickly how serious the Kronkes are. We are the last of their major sports teams that hasn't won a championship in the past 5 or 6 years I believe.

If we drop 200M+ then I will believe they seriously want to win.

Just remembered that we play today. frick.

JK. Just keep it tight at PSV. I'll even take a draw. Just for the love of God don't lose by 2 goals.

Hopefully Trossard is on his usual Champions League X factor shite today.

Can not lose this tie in one leg.

I expect us to draw 0-0 or lose 0-1.

Then 0-0 or 1-1 in 2nd leg, then just down to penalties.

Same as Porto last year, and we’ve got infinitely less attacking ability than we had last year. Only good news is PSV’s defense isn’t great

Why can’t the PL get the semi automated offsides like the CL does?

That was unbelievably fast even though it fricked us also
