Weird first game at times, but the finish result is the only thing people will remember in May. Great goals. Saka and Havertz with both a goal and assist.
2-0 Victory with a clean sheet is beautiful though. Goal is to go 3-0 before the International Break. Game by game as per usual.
At Aston Villa
vs Brighton

Real Sociedad boss Imanol Alguacil on his decision to leave Mikel Merino out of his squad this weekend… I’ve left Merino out of the squad as there are talks with other clubs… and this is the best solution now.
I really hope we make this move. Then make havertz a permanent striker.

Forrest make a 25 million bid for Eddie that was rejected but they are still in talks. Looks like they are holding out for 30.

Supposedly they cleaned his stuff out his locker at the Emirates today - I’d expect it happens fairly quickly

Reported by San Sebastian-based journalist Sean Ituarte, the president was speaking at the press conference showcasing the summer signing from Manchester City, Sergio Gomez. Asked about Merino, however, and Aperribay provided a detailed response.
"Last week we had conversations and a meeting with Arsenal," he said. "We will see how it progresses.
"Merino told us that he feels very much like a Real Sociedad player. He told us that he wanted to return to the Premier League and that if no offer came in we would talk about renewing his contract.
"Merino was clear that he didn't want to say he was renewing and then leave. It wasn't a surprise.
"Unfortunately, one of the teams we didn't want to show up showed up. We will talk to Arsenal and defend the interests of Real Sociedad.
"When we consider that the offer is good, we will say yes. We know what Merino's wishes are, so we decided not to call him up."
1 out 1 in?
Merino is going to be cheaper than a striker and if you need someone to play midfiled instead of Partey or rice, youve got merino instead of havertz. That keeps sjesus as the rotaional option instead of the starting striker if you had to start havertz in midfield.

Looks like Wolves are wanting Ramsdale also
Joan Garcia would be his replacement

I think they are still trying to convince Nico Williams to come from athletic

I just don't see this happening. Weve spent a bunch of money the past 2-3 seasons.
I wanted another forward and a midfielder but this window we spent the raya money and Calafiori, and prob on the midfielder.
That would be three big signings. If Ramsdale goes, then they are bringing in a back up gk.
And you still have nelson and vieira taking up spots.

If the Nketiah deal goes through, we’ve made close to 70M in profit off homegrown guys.
Calafiori, Raya, Merino would be a net of like 20-25 spend I think.
Nelson might go to Palace as well
I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that they sign another winger that can play on the Left. Martinelli has been moving to the right after Saka goes off the last few games

ESR and Nkhetiah, who else did we sell? Transfer markt is showing esr as the only sell.
Our spend rt now is 76.90m euros and thats just on raya and calafiori. And thats on top of the few hundred weve already spent the previous seasons.
76.90-31.8(esr) = net spend of 45.1 (does not include Eddie sell or merino purchase)
My assumption is eddie will sell less than we purchased merino so net spend will increase.
Petino for 1m, any of his value will come on a resell.
I will be shocked if we buy a forward this window.

Nuno left on loan with obligation for next year, something like 7M (this won’t hit books till next year)
Sambi on loan and option for next year (not a for sure thing)
The good news is they’ve cleared a bit of the deadwood out, which, according to reports we don’t have any PSR issues, but they don’t want to end up like Chelsea with 40+ players on the books

Either way, this is two years in a row with champions league money and our revenue has never been higher. Evidently, we’re not in danger of violating any FFP rules so we definitely have money to buy an attacker if we want.
We only have five CL level attackers for three positions (Saka, Jesus, Havertz, Martinelli, and Trossard). If Eddie goes, we are going to be extremely thin there.

Rumor is still Nico Williams, and if he doesn’t come, Raphinia - Barca is as usual, in financial trouble and still can’t register Dani Olmo with La Liga
