wonder what arteta writes on his paper when going into half
because they looked worse the second half
unatttractive ball, teams sit back and allow them the possession then counter and capitalize on our mistakes
we play the same when we are up, tied, or down
wonder what moves will made made next month

The worst part of today, besides dropping six points in two games, is that, frankly, Fulham looked like the better team today.
West Ham was flukish in a way considering our domination of the ball, the beautiful movement, etc… shite FINISHING!
But today?
No flow. Inaccurate passing. Playing like pussies. shite finishing (how did Saka miss that???). No energy. No confidence. The American shut Saka down for most of the game. Didn’t even need to double up on him today.

There needs to be more creativeness than everything going wide through Gabby & Saka.
Also I feel like Odegaard isn’t the guy. He’s a piece, but not the guy. Not physical enough, or physical enough to do what they’re asking of him.
Same can be said for a few others.
Maybe it’s just bad form, but been pretty unimpressed with Odegaard this year over last

Have people forgotten how insanely good Ødegaard has been for us? I think our biggest issue is the lack of a dominant and physical striker as well as failure to rotate our midfield and wingers. Giving ESR and Reiss garbage minutes isn’t a great way to spell Saka and Martinelli nor help those guys build confidence. If you don’t trust them to contribute then sell them. I like Arteta but am frequently frustrated by the reticence to rotate/manage minutes.

We need better finishing. We underperform our xG by over 8 goals.
LINK
Rice has as many goals as our starting striker and more than Martinelli. Havertz has more than those two as well. Trossard has more goals than Martinelli in half the minutes.
xG may be inflated due to us taking a lot of low percentage shots. We don’t seem to create enough decent goal scoring chances.

Like I said, probably is form, but he’s not being a difference maker right now.
Not that anyone else is performing well. Our leading 4 or 5 offensive guys are on a horrid run of form currently.
Hard to watch

Odegaard has been amazing lately. He had a dip in form earlier when his hip was hurt, but he’s on a different level right now… the lone exception being the two sitters he missed wide vs. Aston Villa.
He was magical against West Ham and Brighton, great against Liverpool, etc.
Edited to add: Martinelli has been playing like he’s the fast receiver with bad hands in the movie The Replacements. He’s been demonstrating no skill with the ball, no vision, etc

Partey not included in Ghana squad for AFCON

Oddly enough i thought raya was our best player in this game.
Im wondering if last season was the fluke and we are just reverting to the mean.
Jesus and eddie are putting up laca numbers under Arteta. But then Laca goes and scores 30 goals not playing under arteta.
I dont know, something is broken.
And also maybe now yall can see why I was so against Raya. We do not have two players at every position, that was a lie. So Imo having two gks didnt make sense when we dont have adequate backup in the forward and defensive positions. I wasnt buying the reasoning given. If you want a new goalkeeper, cool. But don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.
Any elite team would have Martinelli and saka on the bench rt now. But we have no one else.

that’s how i always viewed it
we benefitted greatly because so many team were having a down year, plus good fortune on our side
will be the closest we would have gotten to winning the league

Looking at squad building, Mikel Arteta has brought in five goalkeepers and two forwards.
Id like to see us go and get a pedro neto.
I originally said 4 but forget about Matt Ryan... 5 goalkeepers...FIVE
Also have to remember he didnt originally sign Saka, Martinelli, and Saliba.

I genuinely think Jesus is better. I also don't know anything about his off the ball work. He's 28 in March. I really don't want a 200k a week striker at the age of 32 or 33 assuming a 5 year deal. We've been there done that with Laca and Auba. The cliff is massive unless you are a Benzema or Lewandowski type.

Losing to goddamn Fulham. How frustrating. Welp, let’s not worry about winning the league. Looks like it will be a fight this spring to finish top four. Seems like just a blink of an eye from drawing at Liverpool to hold serve to now five points off the pace.

Toney may be good for us.
But I have an issue with the gambling. You are dumb. You as in Toney, plus what if he does it again?
And he hasn’t played in several months.
The price for him also might be too much. So you get what you can now and do a big big move in the summer.
Also the whole selling and ffp thing will prob come into play.
On defense I have no idea who to try and get.
My only issue rt now with how we actually set up is forcing the inverted left fullback when zinchenko isn’t playing. So buy a back up that could do that. Or just play normal. Other teams do and beat us.

Looks like Jesus has another knee injury.
I think it'd fair game that Jesus, Partey, Tomiyasu are just completely unreliable health wise. I think I'm not on board with the links for a striker. I was in denial.

I’m not far from punting the rest of the season if they don’t get their act together

We are only 5 points back. I say take a chill pill.
And I think we have a chance to go deep into the Champions League.

Ornstein says Gabriel Jesus knee injury looks like a knock and they don't believe it has structural damage.
We desperately need this upcoming 2 week break.
