André Onana is a real target in the Arsenal list, confirmed as @nos reported today. #AFC

- Arsenal are in direct contact wih his agents since January.
- Definitive suspension period will be key to understand Onana’s future.
- Impossible to bring Szczesny back, NO chance.

Odegaard could be coming back if Carlo still has the same feelings.

When Real Madrid decided to sign a kid from Norway, sixteen year old Martin Odegaard, I thought ‘I don’t care if he comes in or not, because he’s not going to play for me now’.

He could go on to be the best player in the world after I’m gone, but I’m not interested in the signing because it isn’t of importance to my job. Of course, when he arrived I treated him with the same respect I would give to any young player, but why I would I want to be involved in his recruitment? He is being recruited for the future, for other managers after my time.

Is is still vital to respect the vision of the owners. Perez was well known for his Galacticos approach, where the biggest and most expensive superstars in world football are recruited, so players would arrive and depart who would not necessarily have been my choice, but it was my job to make the team work with whatever assets I was given.

It is a waste of time and energy to fight against something which has already happened – you must manage it. After all, that is why we are called managers. If the president decides that, for a PR exercise, he needs the Norwegian boy to play three games with the first team, I will work out a way of doing that.

Not so fast. This is what he actually said. The only way i see this happening is if RM is hard set on some huge signings and Arsenal over pay in this market.

But the Onana stuff is interesting. Didnt know we were in contact in january. And it doesnt seem like Leno is going to be getting another or wants another contract with Arsenal.

Arsenal playing in Orlando this summer

The tournament will take place in Orlando and will involve Everton, Inter Milan and Colombian side Millonarios.

How is Neves a replacement for Xhaka? They are about as divergent as players can be.

He's 24 and is maybe bit better defensively.

But he scores and takes more shots than xhaka. Doesn't progress the ball as well.

We technically need a replacement for Xhaka and Ceballos as it stands.

So we need more than just Neves. I think of it more of replacing the body. Not an exact like for like replacement.

Unless the plan is to roll with Neves, Partey, Willock, and Elneny as our midfielders. Then I'd say ehh.

I would think because we lost Ceballos and probably lose Xhaka and Odegaard, we need to sign 2 midfielders at least. I would love to have Bissouma in the mix.

Me too, but Afcon.

Edu and Arteta really have a job here.

We can't have like 3-4 key players going off for a month in the middle of the season.

Egypt, Ghana, Gabon and Ivory Coast are in it.

So that's 4 players currently on the roster. Elneny, Thomas, Auba, Pepe.

Andre Onana's ban has been reduced to nine months.

The Arsenal target will be available to play again on November 3rd and will be able to train with his club (whoever that may be) again from September 3rd.
Supposedly Arsenal view Onana as a Leno replacement and could get him for a cut-rate price because of the suspension. If they go for him this summer, I assume we roll with Runnarson or an academy GK as a #2 until November.

Hes made comments about not sure if hes staying and wanting cl.

So hes got what 2 years on his deal and if he wont extend we need to sell.

And i know this could bite us in the arse and Xhaka was good the last half of the season. but im ready to get him out and if we end up with $20 mil from bonuses or what not, im good. Time to go in a diff direction and i think hes going to be great at roma.

Athletic says we have interest in Neves, Tyler Adams and Lokonga. But also wokring on new deal for Nkhetia and Smith Rowe.

There haven't been any contract extension talks, and it seems as if Arteta is ready to move on from him soon.

That to me would be an absolute disaster. Runnarson looked not even remotely capable of being in a top flight league.

I don't disagree with you. Just not sure they can recruit a #2 GK if they get Onana and already have Leno.

Runnarson is terrible and should be sold/loaned out ASAP. I think if we sign Onana, we resign Matt Ryan and have Okonkwo be number 2 until November. Or maybe they sign someone else on a cheap deal to be the second choice for the early portion of the season.

Entering the transfer window, Arsenal’s #1 target was Martin Ødegaard. Those plans may have to be reconsidered. Sources indicate that the 22-year-old is expected to remain at the Bernabeu for the 2021/22 season. [@TheAthleticUK] #afc
He's supposed to sit down with Ancelloti soon and discuss his future. Looks like Arsenal will have to look somewhere else for a #10.

After making an initial enquiry a few weeks ago, Arsenal have now made a formal approach for Albert Sambi Lokonga. The offer is understood to be in the region of €15m, with Anderlecht holding out for closer to their €20m valuation. There is a deal to be struck [@TheAthleticUK]
Don't know much about this guy, but he's young and has a lot of potential it seems.

Looks like Arsenal have some genuine interest in Leicester's James Maddison according to the great AFCBell and Chris Wheatley.
