Emery isnt doing good enough. At this rate he'll be gone in the summer.

I wish his press conference went like this:

Unai: I realize ...understand that I am not...what is the word...bad. So, I am to resign effective now. Tomorrow, a rested, tanned man named Jose will teach these clowns how to defend.

Our midfield may be a bigger problem than our back four. Every time watford had the ball they had hours to jaunt up field and shoot or pass at the top of the box. Where is the pressure?

We suck, I wasn't concerned at first. But wtf is Unai Emery?

I can barely stomach watching the saints seeing them pump up a kronke team.

We still have serious issues. I don't even know who plays up front in Europa. Defense still sucks, frick.

Typical. Emery has some real problems setting this team up with the players he has. We could very easily lose. We've been under pressure for 30 minutes.

I was screaming at the tv, we were dog shite and invited the fricking pressure. Deeny was looking on thinking same soft Arsenal.

Oh, and Xhaka is still trash. I know he's not our only issue, but he sucks. When you pass to the other team, any reason you are in the team is out the window.

While I'm at it, you can't start sokratis and Luiz. They are both aloof at times. And AMN is the worst player in our 11.

AMN is a solid, if not unspectacular, championship level player.

The Ceballos chant, to the tune of La Bamba.

"Dani Ceballos,
Dani Ceballos,
He drinks Estrella, he eats paella,
The boys fricking magic."

AMN and the wingbacks generally are asked to do an insane amount of running in Emery's "system." His offensive philosophy relies on cutbacks, but he hasn't set up his midfield properly to deal with the fact that one or both wingbacks will be out of position when we are in a defensive transition. Nor do we have the wide players to do anything. If it wasn't for Auba and Lacazette, we would struggle to score in a massive way.

AMN can be a good fullback, but he's being asked to do too much, as are all the fullbacks. AMN's wingplay has been fairly good this season, outside of this game. We aren't setting up the team to perform well. The midfield is the problem. We still aren't pressing as a cohesive unit. In that regard we don't look at all different from Wenger's reign. But pressing means a high line, which means our CBs are exposed. Emery seems unwilling to compromise, either by positional or personal changes.

Xhaka, Luiz, and Sokratis all have to be dropped. They make major mistakes, and keep playing, but Willock and Chambers, who haven't made major mistakes, get dropped? Insane. Luiz is a far worse 1 v 1 defender than Mustafi. He's wild and out of his damn mind most of the time. Sokratis can't play the ball out from the back. Xhaka hasn't done anything well this year. Try some other midfield combinations. Any combination of Willock-Guendouzi-Ceballos-Torreira could work, as they are all mobile, are good passers, and can hold the ball. Willock is the only player we have who wants to drive into the box with the ball. Guendouzi is willing to drive the ball from deep. Ceballos can hold the ball in difficult positions. Torreria is far better on the ball than Xhaka, and at the very least, he attempts to plug holes in the defense.

We have to see progress by Xmas, or else Emery needs to go. The fact that we look clueless offensively makes the defensive cluelessness worse. At least under Wenger, we looked like we could play. Here, everything involves spreading the ball wide, recycling it, and starting over again.

If I was a Leeds fan, or the owner. I would be pretty fricking pissed he allowed the other team to just walk the ball into the net. That was $170 million mistake.

This is from Leno.

quote:

“The distances between all parts of the team were too big so they had so much space, especially in the second half,” he said.

“It was too easy for them and they could go around our box. I don’t know why it was like that but everybody could see that we have to talk about this.

“In the first half it was better but not perfect. I think we have to be honest and analyse this game.

“We were lucky we didn’t lose.”

Others have mentioned it before, but Emery really hasn't fixed any of the issues that plagued Arsene at the end.

Not sure we will have a crazy run like past season where the reulst were sometimes better than the performance.

The season is young, but if Emery doesn't get the midfield rt, I don't see how he makes it to the end of the season.

I've straight up lost faith in Xhaka. We either have to build a team around him, or drop him, and he isn't good enough to build a team around.

I honestly don't think Emery is proactive enough to get us into the top four. Why were we playing on our heels against Watford of all teams? They dominated the game, and if it wasn't for Auba, we wouldn't have scored.

Is it too much to ask for this team to be have a coherent modern philosophy?

Can we please just go with Torreira. He at least adds some more defensive solidity because it's not like Xhaka is doing a damn thing anyway
