Not mad about the match at all, but Sanchez comes back for the ball too much and the backs refuse to cross it without the presence of Giroud, or any presence of a natural CF.

Sanchez is either lost, or gets the ball so far out he's a nonfactor while he's playing up top.

If only Walcott was more clinical, he gets a bunch of chances due to his pace.
The game opened up as soon as Ozil came on. I still don't like Sanchez's involvement in the game, even when Ozil came on Sanchez was playing central fairly often.
Giroud didn't get involved much at all, but then again he didn't have much time out their.
Defense still scares me with how often they are caught out of position, ball watching, or simply allowing their mark to run free.
Arsenal still love to work the ball into the net, way too many close passes/flicks inside the box. Always trying to dribble the ball into the net almost.
Mahrez is so good, pains me that we couldn't make that deal happen.

Coquelin was great. Xhaka is struggling.
Sanchez isn't a CF. He just never threatens from there.
We have almost no ability to get a cheap goal (set piece or header from a cross) unless Giroud is up top.
We looked much better with one DM than two. Jack and Coquelin are a natural pairing.

Sanchez was pretty bad most of the game. Don't understand Wenger at times, he should have been taken off.
When he was playing up top he drifted out wide. When Giroud came on he stayed central. He also looks a lil heavier than usual.

Walcott has been more productive than Sanchez at ST. We really need to let Alexis play wide so he can pick up the ball and run at defenders which he excels at. Walcott will stay higher up the field and make runs in behind. This shouldn't even be an issue if we would just sign another ST.

We suck. If I was Vardy or Mahrez I wouldn't want to join us either. This team shafts the fans every year by dangling our "war chest" like a carrot and then pulling it away. Clear needs and no ambition. Every other team with top four ambition reloads. City's, United's, Pool's, and Chelsea's new signings are scoring goals and contributing assists, and we are just sitting on our asses trying to haggle for players based on how the transfer market worked 10 years ago. And this happens every year. We had the perfect storm to allow us to win the league last year. Instead we were the only top 5 team in the major European leagues not to buy a field player over that summer. We unsurprisingly had depth issues with injuries and had a predictable collapse. This year will have much of the same, but I don't see us even challenging for the title if this keeps up.

if only there was a somewhat fast, clinical finisher available in France who even seems to want to go to Arsenal

what i don't get is breaking the bank for Xhaka when y'all could have used that money on a CB or lacazette

Xhaka was a move we needed. I think the aim is eventually to drop Coq and combine his responsibilities in Xhaka.
We've basically needed a good DM, CB and ST for a while. It's hard to find players Wenger thinks are worth it.

i get that but you can still get by with coq/ramsay better than you can get by with giroud/sanchez

Xhaka has been good.
I disagree. He was our biggest signing. Man U's second biggest signing has three goals already. Yes I know they play different positions, the point is Man U signed impact players, Arsenal picked a mid-squad guy.

...and another thing, Theo was not good. He is supposed to be fast, but that does not matter if he can't control the ball or shoot or distribute.

Sure Xhaka was average today but you must have not watched much of him at Basel, Gladbach, or Switzerland. Xhaka is quality and his track record proves it. Xhaka was absolutely class in the Euros. Give him time to settle in to a new club and new league before you declare him a "mid-squad guy."

Look, I hope I am wrong and if I am I will say so, but he played in Switzerland...Switzerland! The Euros are a mirage. Pogba was crap in the Euros. Do you think he is crap? Man U spent money, and got wins. It is nice to be noble and say spending is out of control, but the game is the game. If Stan K does not want to play to win and write the check, then invest in something else please.
I am an Arsenal fan, I have been for 27 years, I do not like saying these things.

Anyone see all of arsenes quotes after the game? He just doesn't get it at this point and at the least isn't doing anything to help himself
Posted on 8/20/16 at 5:01 pm to DB10_AFC
those quotes are cringeworthy. he's living in his own world at the moment. assuming we don't sign anyone else, how long before things get truly toxic? one point out of the first two fixtures isn't ideal but also not quite panic inducing. i truly don't believe anyone in a position of power gives a shite what the fans want. What would cause a fan revolt? miss the top 4 with ozil and sanchez forcing their way out?

I agree

We just got to dig in. I think Arsenal are in for rough times, most likely replacing Wenger anyway, and as much as he's pissed me off, some of those years we made top 4, the team wasn't very good. So you don't hire a good manager, Arsenal will struggle like Liverpool has for some years and man u the past couple.
