old @YoungGunsBlog errrr @Sanderson says we're trying to complete Flamini's paperwork so that he can be in the squad saturday.

and thus ends the illustrious arsenal career of Emmanuel Frimpong.

This is still a step in the rt direction. The starting 11 is strong, but there is just no way they can stay healthy the whole season.

he's had some injury issues. wasn't a first choice at Milan. he's been training with us for weeks and is just now signing. reeks of desperation. purely a cover signing at DM/full back. hopefully he is healthy enough to contribute some.

I don't think it reeks of desperation. Just a good band aid for now. And good depth later.

to me, if he's been with us training for a few weeks and we just now have decided to sign him, that means he wasn't exactly blowing things out of the water. apparently he had offers from 3 unknown italian clubs and west ham though.

would imagine he's only getting a one, maybe two, year deal.

Hopefully one year at no more than 50,000... but I'm sure it's more like 2 years at 75k

He also probably wasn't matchfit that whole time. I don't mind this at all. Provides great cover and is a good player. This type of signing usually works out for us rather well. I don't want you to forget how good Flamini can be. He's a grafter who actually has good technique. A better Coquelin.

With this we have bodies in midfield and at both full back positions. It's a good signing despite being lackluster.

No way will he get a contract that high. He was on the equivalent of 75k when he started at Milan but then took a paycut. I'm betting he's on 30 something.

Just going based on the rumors I heard, you're right though they probably won't come too close to that.

true. i remember how good he was. i also remember that was five years ago and a lot has changed. i don't disagree with it. it's a no risk signing for cover. just still feels desperate to me. desperate isn't necessarily bad, though i understand it has a negative connotation.

I don't imagine he'll be as mobile as he once was but I honestly am happy we added experienced depth. Our youth program has failed us in a massive way and we needed depth from somewhere.

I did, but there wasn't a lot of substance to it, except that we lost some good coaches.

That said, it's obvious our youth program isn't developing the talent we need.
