If Bayern really fricked us over on this Draxler deal I'm going to be pretty pissed.

surprised crazy hasn't posted yet about the importance of midfield runners as shown by Ox's 1st goal Sunday

really hope arteta's knock isn't bad. Jack+Ox (or the worse alternatives) is kinda scary going into Pool, ManU, etc.

Bayern said that they'd take him in the summer.

it's all a confusing and interesting situation. Drax said he wanted to go and there was offers but the Schalke sporting director said no. If there's a buyout clause, it's not like Bayern can offer them a shite ton more money to Schalke and us lose. Now they can offer a shite ton more in salary and team prestige than we can (though it seems odd to me to dump Kroos over salary then pay Drax 6 figures a week). arsene and our german contingent need to work hard on him.

i really don't want him to join the CR7, Zlatan, Bale, Yaya Toure Club of "we were so close to signing him!!!!!!!"

I was expecting it when I woke up this morning. He is right, we haven't had as cocnsistent of runs since my boy got hurt. That and his effort and energy in the middle of the pitch has been missed. Ox did a great job yesterday.

I would have posted this but Super Bowl festivities distracted me.

We have a shite ton of world-class passers on this team, but they aren't anything if they don't have players who want to run into space or behind the defense.

Hell the second goal showed the benefit of direct running with the ball. Giroud didn't play extremely well, but the quick passing in that movement highlights something we've been missing since Ramsey has been injured, namely direct passing, met with forward runs.

is water wet?

Kicker reporting that our deal with Draxler was nearly finalized when Bayern's president called......

seriously, what in the frick? if that's true, that's so dumb. i'm not sure what more they could offer money wise to entice Schalke into selling Drax to someone they play 2+ times a year.

that said, if it was Drax who Bayern called and he pumped the brakes on the deal, then it makes sense.

I'm not sure what to believe. I have a feeling that the deal was not as close to being done as we've been led to believe, and that the Bayern thing was an excuse used by Schalke to keep Draxler until the summer, as they will basically get the same price for him, so it makes no difference if they sell now or later. When Bayern called, it ensured that Schalke would have it's minimum price for Draxler met, as with two clubs it ensures the price won't drop below a certain point. With Wenger's haggling, the price could have gone below a point where Schalke felt comfortable, which would compound the fact that Draxler wanted to leave.

I think Draxler wants to leave, but he doesn't care where. Hopefully we can have our Germans convince him. He's a damn fine player, and I don't want him to enter the group of awesome players we nearly signed.

Do we want a draw today, or a giant sink hole to form and swallow the entire stadium around 2:20 CST?

I'm really partial to rogue asteroids myself, let them see their doom as it approaches.
