I wouldn't mind the Flamini-Arteta axis for this game to be honest. We are a bit rigid, but Villa tore us apart because of our naive positioning the first game. On the road, with lots of injuries, going with an axis of Jack and Arteta leaves us a bit exposed, mostly because Jack has been prone to do whatever the frick he wants lately, since he wants to prove himself so badly.

I think this is the right call. Our shape is so much better with those two on the pitch. It is crucial we get something from this match.

I was just looking at some stats, and apparently Giroud has missed the most clear-cut chances in the PL. We really need him to start putting chances away. We create as many, if not more, chances than Pool and City, but they've scored ten more goals than we have because they have lethal finishers and we have to rely on Giroud, whose game excels in small spaces, and therefore is more liable to snatch at a chance since he relies on movement and a good pass for the chance, meaning he's most likely under pressure if he gets an opportunity. I'd like to see Poldi get more game time as well, as I think his natural game could fit in with Ozil pretty effectively.

personally, i disagree. i think jack has been stellar since coming back to CM in the past few matches. also, flamini isn't nearly as positionally disciplined when playing alongside arteta as he is when he's partnered with Rambo or Jack. it ends up being flamini advanced in the positions where Rambo or Jack normally reside and it hurts our offensive effectiveness. not to mention it's way harder for us to push the ball up the center of the pitch with a flamini-arteta axis. i don't disagree that we're better defensively with them paired, but i think overall we're worse because of how that pairing affects our attack. it just doesn't make sense to use that formation against weaker opponents.

I think there's a good argument to be made, but I think Wenger will err on the side of caution, hence why I think the Flamini-Arteta axis. I'll have to watch Jack today to see how he does.

I want to see Poldi and Gnabry worked into the side. I would like more production, goal scoring threats from our Wingers, and I think these two create their own chances or aren't afraid to pull the trigger and go for goal from outside the box.

dammit! one off! they talked up gnabry way too much these past 9 days not to give him another go

love the lineup. and if things aren't working, very strong bench to change things up.

Promise I'll be nice if I can hang out with yall for the game... Don't have any other fans to talk game with. Villa just put all their Jerseys on sale for 50% off so I will likely be getting a Delph jersey and another Guzan kit cause Guzan is the tits.

loved the first half, second half was pretty bad. everyone fell asleep. sucks to have given up a goal like that especially to a terribly out of form striker.

wenger says rosicky's nose may be broken and they're going to do a scan but worried that Monreal has a broken metatarsal :/

How long would a broken nose keep out a soccer player? Sucks about Monreal but at least Gibbs is back. Certainly seems like as soon as we get someone back someone else gets hurt. As soon as Arteta is fit again I bet Flamini picks up a knock.

On the other hand, brilliant strategy by Wenger to allow benteke to score, give him confidence to take points off other top teams

Haven't watched the game today. How did Gnabry do today?

To me he seemed kind of non-existent out there. We weren't really able to let him loose down the right. Sagna really played far up the pitch which pinched Serge in. - IMO

I thought he was pretty good. didn't give the ball away in attack, defended well, had some nice exchanges. didn't create any chances but was solid. did almost kill Baker with that strike. a ferocious shot.
