Highlights from our FA Youth Cup tie yesterday. Damn, Crowley looks good.
(no 10 btw, the one making every assist or goal

I heard that our youth setup got decimated by having our good directors/coaches leave and replacing them with ones that weren't nearly as good.

Damn, Crowley is a stud. His passing is orgasmic.

we're in somewhat of a state of flux, but i've heard mostly good things about the new coaching set up. a lot of our issues have come from gaps in talent (particularly at the CB position). that said, with Crowley and Zelalem, we have two brightly promising attacking prospects coming through the system. there are a few other good prospects as well, but not so much on the defensive end.
our FA Cup tie will be on Friday (?!?) January 24th.

for sure. it was just Peterborough, but he's been lighting it up for the u18s all year. if we can move out some of the older talent that likely won't make it at the club (Eisfeld, Olsson, etc) he'll get his U21 chance very soon.

What makes you think Eisfeld won't make it?

he possesses no above average skill besides a freaking laser of a shot.
olsson may have a chance to stick around. he's got a bit more class. just probably not great news for them that a 16yo kid waltzes in and pips them immediately on the depth chart. neither seem to possess the potential of Zelalem or Crowley.

Zelalem, Crowley and Akpom look like potential PL level players. The team is still not as good as the Wilshire led youth team in 2009 which had a lot of fringe first teamers. At the youth level the Frimpong-Coquelin-Wilshere axis was just unfair. Crowley has a bit of Wilshere in him, but I see a bit of Cazorla there too. Looks like a real player. Clearly too good for that level. Needs to be with the first team or the reserves next year.

agree 100%. though the midfield trio of hayden/zelalem/crowley might just be better than their predecessors by next season.
our current youth team has no defensive prospects who look like they have a remote chance of making it in the PL. maybe Semi Ajayi but I think he's been hurt. it's been a mess in the transition period between youth coaches too. hopefully it'll settle a bit.

Apparently Pedro is on his way from Barca to Arsenal via beIN sport, same people who broke the Ozil story.

I... I think this is a good thing. But will we have to change our formation?

frick yes.

I think that's bullshite. Pedro is their leading scorer so far this season. silly rumor until I see a source. beIN didn't break the ozil transfer, though maybe they were the first to say on tv it was a done deal. I'm not seeing anything else online saying this is happening.
move makes zero sense for barça.

Me either. Would be awesome, but it has to be an unfounded rumor.

I don't know if it makes a ton of sense for us either. Pedro is a great winger, but we need a striker, one who can put away all the chances we create.

well, he's certainly been proficient in front of goal this year, though his tallies in the past aren't overwhelming. would be more of a theo replacement, which i'm not sure we really need unless we're super concerned about his long-term health. paying out that kind of scrilla when we have theo, serge, and ox long term is questionable (also wouldn't mesh with our alleged pursuit of Draxler).
i honestly wouldn't mind the move at all if it meant we still had money to pursue a striker, Draxler, a MF, a RB, and a CB in the offseason but considering our finances, it probably would.
i'm really perplexed by the striker market. i really don't see anyone out there that fits for us to nab at a non-ridiculous price. that said, don't like having poldi as our no. 2 striker for 3 weeks or beowulf/poldi as our backups for the rest of the season. the only one that kinda makes sense (Morata loan deal) doesn't seem likely to be particularly fruitful. odds of him coming in to an entirely new system and league and having any impact on a 5 month loan seems rather small to me.
