Hopefully Gnabry and Ox will share his load and cover up. #GetwellsoonTheo

so Crowley scored 2 and assisted the other 4 goals in our 6-1 win over Petersborough in the FA Youth Cup

hopefully they post highlights. i'd love to see that. (zelalem played too, but crowley was the no 10). akpom scored a hat trick.

Was going through the thread from the beginning of the season since I am very new. I enjoyed thoroughly ...

A couple weeks ago before a Saints game someone approached me about Arsenal because I was wearing an Arsenal track jacket. We started talking about how well they were playing and then he started saying all kinds of negative things.

"Man, I just wish our defense was better." I responded by claiming we had the fewest goals allowed in the league (and now I see we also have the most clean sheets).

"Oh really? I just can't stand Per Mertesacker, he's so awful" Then I explained how him and Laurent Kos are an incredible duo (I might have used the stat about arsenal not losing with them two in the game in the last 2 years or so).

"Yea, but he's so slow." To that statement I told him, 'Yea, he's a big effin German'

It was pretty awkward after that ... not much to really discuss with complete opposite view points on the team we love.

Did this person have valid points (and I'm simply blind to them)?

(If this is a horrible post I can take down )

They do and sometimes are interrupted. Only to be resumed in the future. These are usually the best kind.

We have conceded the least number of goals this season (18 goals conceded in 20 games). BFG and Kos are the best CB duo arsenal had in long time.

He reads the game well. CB's do not need to be fast.

Where does Ox typically play in our setup?

I know I've seen him in a number of different midfield positions in the past, and I believe he was playing on the right when he was injured against Aston Villa in the opener.

With Walcott now out, having Ox back and Gnabry playing with confidence at least gives us some other options on the right. Obviously neither should be expected to provide all that Walcott does with his pace and timely runs, but I do think we have some options already in the squad to cope with an injury like this better than most teams could.

Thoughts?

Of course I'm not suggesting that Wenger shouldn't dip into the transfer market for further options with what has now come to light about Walcott's injury. I agree with most on this board that we need to buy, but who can we realistically bring in that can improve the squad at this time of year?

The current options on the squad seem to be Ox and Gnabry as true wingers. Just hoping whoever slots into Walcott's position can help us continue our current run of form and we can keep challenging for the league and FA Cup.

Anything we do in the Champions League at this point is lagniappe in my opinion with how the group stage played out.

An interesting "where are they now" interview with Mark Randall from The Guardian. Some interesting points in there about needing to develop young talent by loaning them to the continent as opposed to loaning to a lower division English side. I never really got what Wenger saw in Randall, but he was a prized prospect for us for awhile. i figured at least one of the promising trio of he, Lansbury or Merida would make it at Arsenal. it's amazing to me that Merida is plying his trade in Brazil now. at least Lansbury seems to have settled in at Forest.
