I have a feeling his game will translate to a top 4 league smoother than some other recent high profile Eredivisie goal scorer transfers have gone. This dude has, dare I say, world class foot skills and finishing ability. Obviously, highlight vids can be deceiving. But man, some of those first touches, cutbacks, and firing shots off quickly are so impressive. He also seems to have the passing ability, instincts, and fearlessness to slice a a ball through a defense. I have higher hopes for him than any other young USMNT player we have in our pool.

He's quick, got good feet, accelerates well.
He's got a bit of a poacher instinct - right place right time habit.
I think he has the potential to be pretty good - but needs to make a smart next choice. Stoke may be ok for him, but I'm not familiar enough with Stokes depth up top.
Arsenal could be good long term if he reaches his potential, but he'd need a few loans I think, which is tough.
I don't want to see him at Celtic, but then again, that may be a step up in a more physical league and allow him to adapt quicker than an EPL team.
I think he would do pretty well in Germany though.

As the Alabama fellow below me has already said, he was born in Mobile and his parents went to the University of South Alabama. So no Auburn connection, but I did live just outside of Mobile before I moved to Auburn.

When I was in Iceland this summer I was talking to a guy who is really good friends with the Iceland goalkeeper (Iceland is a small place), and he was telling me about this. Apparently there have been times when almost the entire starting 11 for that school's soccer team were Icelandic.
He also told me about a friend of his who went to the US to play soccer and ended up cursing out the referee in Icelandic after a call he disagreed with. To his great surprise the referee understood him and gave him a yellow card. The ref just happened to be former military who had been stationed in Iceland for several years.

Yeah, I really hate it. I wish they would at least offer more scholarships to local players. They almost won the NAIA championship a year or two ago.
