If it had been a single goal, or maybe even a brace I'd have put this in the Americans Abroad thread.

quote:

Johannsson enjoyed quite the day at the office on Thursday, scoring a hat-trick in AZ Alkmaar’s 4-1 extra-time win over Sparta Rotterdam in KNVB Cup action. Johannsson netted a fifth-minute opener and also came up big after the match ended, 1-1, in regulation, scoring the next two goals in the added 30 minutes to assure that AZ would move on in the tournament. Johannsson now has an impressive nine goals in all competitions at this early juncture in season.

This kid might be just as good as Jozy.

It's entirely possible that he breaks Jozy's record for most goals by an American in a single European season.

I'm absolutely dying to see Aron and Jozy play together.

Rules are rules, I don't feel bad for them. I can see why he wouldn't be a popular figure in Iceland and I don't hold that against them, but I definitely don't feel bad.

I don't feel bad for us, either. Just saying I kinda feel for Iceland considering what Rossi did to us.

We need highlights of these goals. I can't find them anywhere.

Can't find them either, although upon searching I found a link suggesting that Celtic are targeting Aron for their January window.

All three goals came within 1 yard of the 6 yard box.

I'd like to see him transfer to a Premier League club not named Sunderland.

I mean, he was born in the USA, but he's spent the vast majority of his life in Iceland.

He's much, much more Icelandic, than Rossi is Italian.

Yeah. Aron said he came over here one week a year for a soccer camp in Florida. So he was here about 2% of his life.

I have no problem with Rossi playing for Italy. I wouldn't hold it against Johannsson if he played for Iceland, but I don't really know that he would be able to accomplish anything.
