Actually, he went to the IMG Academy for a few years in high school before going pro in Iceland. For those unfamiliar, the academy is like a sports boarding school in Florida. He mentioned this in an interview with US Soccer.com.
Also saw on Ives today that Celtic is showing interest in him. Would this be a good move for Bacon?

Seems like kind of a lateral move league wise, Celtic are definitely a much better club, but since he recently moved to AZ I'd like him to stay there until he gets an offer from a club in the big 4. I love his prospects, but the Dutch league is a pretty poor barometer of being able to score in other leagues, IMO of course. The Bundesliga has plenty of strikers who didn't make the transition very well and the Bundesliga doesn't even really have great defense. This season in particular, a lot of teams are super leaky at the back. Way too many goals being scored.

I disagree.
The SPL is a piss poor, one team league. The level of competition he would get week in and week out would be below that of MLS.
Also, I'm not sure Celtic are even better than AZ. They do get to play in the CL, but that's the only advantage I see.

Even apart from name recognition I would say Celtic is still a better club. AZ isn't anything too special. They're in 9th right now after 7 matches, last season they finished 10th place and 37 points out of first, the seasons before that: 4th, 5th, 5th and 1st. So while they're far from a gutter club I would hesitate to call them Eredivisie royalty.

Celtic is significantly better than AZ. The week in week out league competition may be a bit worse, but Celtic is also a UCL regular. So, in that regard, it's a chance to compete against the best of the best.

Look at how a move to the SPL turned out for Bedoya, Edu, Beasley, Boca, etc.- and that was when it was a 2 team league. Do we really want AJ stagnating over there?

In all honesty, Rangers worked out quite well for Bedoya, Bocanegra, Claudio Reyna, and Edu. All saw regular playing time in league and the UCL.

Celtic are better than AZ. Playing in the UCL is great. However, the Dutch seem to develop attacking players well. Let Aron keep the goal scoring account open for now at AZ.

Bedoya, no. Hardly played.
Edu... not really.
Boca... eh.
Reyna played during a different era, when the SPL was legitimately better than the MLS, and was already an established player. Apples to oranges.
Celtic is a better team but the level of competition is lower in the SPL and I think it would benefit his development to stay with AZ and face stronger competition week in and week out.
