Watching the commentators last night and they pointed out the both Croatian goals were scored because Manchester United player lingard was slow to switch over so apparently it isn’t just Liverpool and Tottenham that keep us from having nice things but Manchester United too.

Kane and Lingard missed the two best chances for a second goal.

Mainly to blame is that Croatia's midfield dominated the last 75 minutes of play.

Pretty normal that there will be errors around the box when things are that one sided for that long.

England was a bit fortunate Croatia had not scored on quite a few other occasions, especially with all the errors from thinking they could play the ball out from the back under pressure.

England should hold their heads high for making the semifinals. Credit to them for avoiding upsets against teams like Sweden when so many of the more elite teams were susceptible. Seems that England has been pretty good about taking care of business against teams they should beat for years now.

However, in this WC, they finally ran into a quality opponent that simply took advantage of their weaknesses and beat them.

All of this

My drunk praising of Henderson’s first half back fired

He was dreadful the rest of the match and was subbed off

The Croatian midfield was completely dominant.

Henderson and Lingard both weren’t great IMO.

I thought Walker and Young were pretty poor as well.

No creativity from Southgate. Game plan was for Pickford to bomb a kick down the right side of the pitch for Sterling to go get with his pace. Problem was/is Sterling can't hold on to the ball once he gets it. Either fell down or gave it up way too early. Not to mention once he gets it in or by the box he has no clue what to do and gets closed down by 3 defenders because of his indecisiveness.
They lived and died on set pieces like UK lives and dies by the three pointer.

Stones was asleep on the second goal.

I could be wrong, but doesn't he play for City?

It was lots of things, but Stones was definitely asleep for the winning goal.

Alli should have been subbed..

Sure looked like Dele Alli who was late closing his man out on the cross for the first goal and Kyle Walker not reacting quick enough

And John Stones on the 2nd goal

2nd goal was more Trippier caught ball watching and Walker being too afraid to use his left foot to clear the ball properly.

If those two do their job then Stones isn’t even put into the situation.

Regardless, England lost the match the second Southgate took Sterling off. No threat forward after that and Rashford was horrendous.

Actually KANE was horrendous, Rashford was the only person pressing the Croatia line. He should have subbed Kane or Alli instead of Sterling....although Sterling couldn't score at a orgy

He has to be talking about Stones and meant Man City, looking back at it.
