Carlo Ancelotti's agent, Ernesto Bronzetti, said Napoli boss Rafael Benítez is "99 per cent certain" to take over at Real Madrid. The FIFA agent is a strong collaborator with Milan and had dinner with Ancelotti and Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani at the Hotel Wellington in Madrid. When asked if Napoli boss Benítez was the favourite to replace Ancelotti at Real Madrid, the reply was confident: "Yes, it's 99 per cent sure it will be him", Bronzetti told Rai Sport. However, it makes no sense why they're going to replace him with Rafa Benitez who's a great tournament manager but pretty average in league play.
I think Ancelotti is great, but it's not like he's much of a league winner himself. He's also been better as a tournament manager in his career.
At least Rafa won La Liga twice upon a time. I'm not saying replacing Ancelotti with Rafa makes any sense, though .

I agree....which is also one of the problems I have with Ancelotti....if you are going to give more importance to UCL and the domestic cup why in the world do you continue to trot out Kroos, Carvajal, Marcelo, etc for the likes of Eibar, Cordoba, and Depor in Feb and March. He seemed liked he seriously wanted to kill his self admitted best XI during that time. Although admittedly mid-season injuries to Modric, James, and Ramos hurt bad.
That is nitpicking and nothing to be sacked over....I wish they would have kept Carlo and let him work on the above which I think could have been his biggest mistake....especially considering you can't blame him for selling Alonso and ADM.

This is a bit odd.
It's a joint presser with De Laurentiis and Benitez on the Thursday before Napoli's biggest match of the season: winner take all affair for the last CL spot with Lazio.
Seems odd to announce that Rafa is leaving right before such a big match but De Laurentiis isn't most conventional owner even by Serie A standards, as people may recall from his Vespa-jacking after storming from the schedule unveiling a couple of years ago.
He also gave the prelude that Napoli fans will get a "big surprise".
Perhaps it's just to announce Napoli's new warm up jackets:
