He looked really sharp. Looks in great shape too. He was bullying dudes all over the park. I'm excited to see how the rest of the season goes for him. But I'm not so excited about the inevitable barrage of people who will claim his good form is strictly attributed to how shite the MLS is.

He's got incredible talent. The guy really is a great player when he's confident and getting minutes.

Yeah, the "he is only scoring because MLS is shite" argument has already shown up en masse on reddit and Jozy's facebook page, specifically on the picture in the OP, which he posted. I will bet, however, that the majority of people saying these things have never watched a single game of MLS in their lives. Also, there are a lot of people saying that MLS is equivalent to League One, which I think is a poor comparison. I think at this point it's somewhere between League One and the Championship, on average, but there are certainly teams I feel could compete (with their first teams, at least. Depth is poor.) with the Championship.

I don't watch those leagues at all. I don't have enough room in my sporting attention span to pay attention to soccer leagues that aren't the first divisions in England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France. And the Champions League, obviously. So it's hard for me to make comparisons.
Either way, I'm actually pretty excited about this upcoming MLS season, and that's a first for me. MLS is really starting to find itself, it seems. The product they are putting out there is consistently improving. They've got me interested this year. All the USMNT guys coming back certainly helps, but that's not the only reason. All of these cool, new little stadiums (that are usually full) popping up everywhere is huge. The atmospheres you see at the games are like nothing else in American sports. The games being shown on ESPN is big too. The calibre of athlete on the field has improved dramatically, creating an athletic, end to end game. It's basically a shite Premier League

I got banned on my first post from r/soccer for defending Jozy.

It's especially funny because Toronto's midfield is arguably better than any team he's played on in the past. No one on Sunderland makes Giovinco's pass that made his first goal.
Jozy will really rack up some crazy numbers if his health and his continues to get excellent service.
