The FFP model is tailor made for managers who have vision and are afforded time to work things out.
Something City has shown they do not have since the take over

Inietsa is from Andalusia and Pedro is from the Canary Islands, among other recent graduates. Their academy products of the last couple of years haven't been on the level, but in general they produce excellent players.

Chelsea isn't paying 2.4 million pounds for 16 year old players like City.

Which is not a bad strategy. Though I think they could use a player like De Bruyne right now, not mentioning Lukaku.

yeah building a world class training ground and academy show they aren't thinking long-term and investing in youth products

That deal also included Pozo's younger brother. Overpaying for youth has basically been Arsenal's strategy for a long time.

like I posted before
City used to pride itself on its youth players. Since 2008 when the take over none of them have had a real shot. In 7 years thats fricking pathetic.
Just bc they built a new youth academy does not mean they get a pass anymore. Its all for show anyway and is a FFP write off.
City went around buying the best kids in europe developed by other academies.

It's not easy to build an academy from the ground up. What's surprising is that they haven't had anyone step up. Even after Arsenal restructured their academy in 1996, it's not like the youth players already there disappeared. Ashley Cole stepped up two years later. It's just very surprising they have absolutely no one to even plug in. Even the Galatico's model relied on youth players to fill in the holes.

So? That's a legitimate strategy. That's what United did with Pogba, which they fricked up royally. They've done it before and they've done it again. United is included in this. All the big clubs do it.

That show the academy is not good enough or the club will not change is philosophy.

Yea but thats not our primary youth strategy.
We for the most part use local players in the academy or start with kids very young

And? Arsenal will probably pay up to 2.5 million if our new Polish DM works out. Arsenal has paid a shite ton of money for youths.
Overpaying for youth and young players is not a bad strategy for big clubs trying to circumvent rules. It's one that requires a lot of patience though.

I can give you a litany of youths that United have imported from other countries.
Please stop the whole "United do things the right way and City don't" narrative. Not only is it myopic, it's also dishonest. All the big clubs are in this shite, City were just more brazen about it.

The majority of United youth are not from abroad
yes guys like Pogba were bought when they were like 16 but that is not the youth policy United use for the whole team like City do.

So? It's not like City has a dearth of English and local talent. They have 16 players from the British Isles. Man U have 14. Arsenal have 17. I'd wager that a majority of those British players won't make it for any of those teams.
In my view Man City haven't been aggressive enough in the youth market to fill in the gaps. When Arsenal were limited in the transfer market, they went out and were aggressive in the youth market, with positive outcomes. City for me focused too much on first team players when it might have been prudent to focus on youth just as much.

United give them at least a a chance thats the point.
Just look at this year alone.

By this point City should have some youth players getting first team action. The last one to get real time was Richards who was a youth product before the take over.
The path City is on they are in big trouble if they dont give these kids a shot and if they do and they don't produce they will be a struggle for top 6.
The club just does not make enough to fund its absurd spending habits.
