Today is opening day so I figured I would get the ball rolling.

Lots of young Americans making the bench or starting. All of the below are younger than 20.

Columbus has 4 on the bench, including Chase Adams (16 yo who scored ten goals against USVI)

Gavin Turner on the bench for DC

Stefan Chirilla on the bench for Cincinnati

Julian Hall on the bench for NYRB

Maximo Carrizo is on the bench for NYCFC

Cremaschi starts for Miami

Francis Westfield starts at RB for Philly, Cavan Sullivan and Neil Pierre make the bench.

Colin Guske (18 yo MF) on the bench for Orlando

Jacob Bartlett (19 yo MF) starts for SKC, Ian James (16 yo D) on the bench

Brooklyn Raines on the bench for Houston

Enzo Newman (19 yo D) on the bench for Dallas

Matthew Corcoran starts for Nashville (played at the last U17 WC), Adem Sipic (19 yo F) on the bench.

Eric Klein and Noel Buck are on the bench for NE Revs

Adam Beaudry (GK, also played at last U17 WC) is on the bench for Colorado

You're doing the Lord's work if you're watching that shite.

I miss early-mid 2000s MLS , seems like that was the sweet spot.

Seeing guys like Cavan Sullivan, Julian Hall, Maximo Carrizo etc get minutes excites me for the future of the national team. That makes it worth watching for me. FC Dallas was doo doo last year and underwent a major overhaul. We probably do worse unless we bring in more reinforcements. I would go to more games in person but it gets absurdly hot out here and there’s no cover. Thankfully they are doing some renovations which should remedy that.

Has not looked great at all for Miami past 2 years.

I’ve never been that impressed by his play. I wish we had taken Obed Vargas to the Olympics with us instead of cremaschi. I think he would still be with us instead of Mexico.

San Diego LA was a rough first half watch. Highlight was the halftime crew switching over to Taylor Twellman for “Taylor’s takes” and showing him talking for 15 secs with no audio before cutting back to the crew

It was such a terrible decision for MLS to put most of their games behind a paywall. I’d watch the San Diego game especially since there’s nothing else on, but I’m not paying for that MLS pass.

I agree, I think it was stupid. They saw a big number and went for it.

Entertaining end to the San Diego LA match. Dreyer will be a star in this league. Happy for Mikey Varas to get the win. Seems like a good dude.

I'll scream this every chance I get. I have no problem with a season pass package, but local market games should under no circumstances be locked out.

Acosta was a great get but for the life of me I can’t understand letting Tafari go when Cb was already a weakness. Ibeagha is not starter quality, he has been a scrub/sub everywhere else. Letting Illara go hurt us as well.

My son and I are season ticket holders and we said that exact same thing about Tafari. Through the years they have made questionable moves, especially on defense. From Zimmerman to Hedges to Hollingshead and others. Some of them were also scoring threats.

Dude it kills me. Their intraleague sales have been terrible. It was dumb to sell Cerrillo who is now doing great at LAG. But yeah selling the guys you mentioned has been a big loss. Zimmerman especially is baffling.

I just got an offer from DraftKings to bet 5 dollars on any soccer game and get MLS season pass for free for the rest of the season. MLS must be desperate for views.

Sebastian Berhalter has sneakily become one of the best box to box midfielders in the league. Scored another goal tonight after a goal to go up 2-0 against Miami in the CCL.

Matt Doyle posted some of his stats over the past two months.

Diego Luna continues to light up the league with a brace yesterday. His first goal was great. LINK

quote:

[Caleb Turner] Pablo Mastroeni: I don’t think we can talk about Diego (Luna) developing anymore. He's the guy. He's the guy that plays with the chip on his shoulder. He's one of our best defenders. He's obviously the guy that's putting the ball in the back of the net. He's doing it all for our group

Hopefully headed to Europe soon. He’s a step above this league already. He was the young player of the year last year and when asked about how he did said he was disappointed and didn’t show what he could do

Here’s to hoping he doesn’t take a deal in Mexico and holds out for Europe.
