Yeah, Mahrez and Sane are going to be really important in the first 3-4 games of the season. I wonder who will fall out of the rotation now, when everyone is healthy.

They surely can't start Sane, Sterling, Mahrez, Silva, and DeBruyne at the same time. Bernardo Silva is clearly a bench player for them at this point, as is Ilkay.

Mahrez is a really good signing for City.

I'm pretty excited for him. I love Raz, and he does do a TON for our attack, but when it's crunch time and you need a goal I like the idea of Mahrez coming in.

Same with Sane. Kid is brilliant when he's on but holy shite he's inconsistent.

D. Silva isn't going to be playing as much. Pep has said it quite a few times. He's getting up there in age and I feel like Bilva will be taking a good chunk of minutes from him. KIND OF the same with KDB. We rode him like a rented mule last season and after the WC he's gonna need some rest.

He had to take the money

I realize this is going to sound ridiculous because of the amount of money he's making, but I don't think that is what his move was based on (entirely). He has really wanted to play for Pep for some time now.

Honestly I have no idea, I’ve never seen him actually play. He’s highly thought of and scored a boatload of goals with the kids around 20 with the U 16 and had 6 goals/ 6 assists with U18 in 15 matches(actually read that this morning ) last year. If we didn’t suffer the double relegation he’d be the type that would be already in the first team picture. Going forward the club is definitely looking to follow a Southampton or Dortmund model as the academy is really really good and it’ll be much more stable than overpaying a bunch of mercs to come to the northeast. The academy is pretty hot in the news right now with it producing Pickford and Henderson (yeah I know).

Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets loaned back at some point when he’s in the senior level picture for arsenal.

Oh absolutely. It's a great opportunity for him. I just really hope he gets a chance.

My takes are often awful as you all know, but I was super high on Mahrez the year Leicester almost went down. I've loved his game for a long time. I just don't want him to end up playing sparingly.

I think thats a good fit for him, since you have Kante there to do the dirty work for him...

He's honestly the worst. Somehow we're still haggling over a buyout fee for a dude that's not their manager.

Sorry for posting a Sun guy, but he is somewhat reliable regarding City stuff. Other City reporters have also tweeted similar things as well.

I have such a hate/love relationship with transfer windows.

Madrid loaned out Achraf Hakimi to Dortmund for 2 years. Better hope Caravjal stays healthy, because not much behind him right now.

Is there an option to buy? I really like Hakimi.

True story. But that's what makes it so fun

I saw a quote (I think it was a quote) from the President of Napoli that basically came out and admitted that they were pushing him to Chelsea because they were offering more money.

ETA: nevermind just saw TFTC posted it above Guess I should have looked at the whole thread first

a City reporter for Man Evening News is pushing that story too.

kinda reeks of face-saving. i mean, whats the club gonna say? that they could have had the deal wrapped up but stalled over a few million? doubt thatd go over well with fans.

but, on the other hand, wouldnt put it past ADL to strongarm an outgoing player so he could make a few extra bucks.

This isn’t how the club works and the fans know that.

We had agreements with Jorginho, Fred and Sanchez and while negotiations went on with their clubs other clubs came in and offered more money.

When this has happened Pep and Txiki do not negotiate. They say, ‘we had an agreement, you can play for (insert club) for more money or you can play for the best club in the league for a bit less’

I have zero problem with them negotiating like that. I would rather have players want to play for the club. If Jorginho is happy rotting away in the Europa League that’s fine with me.

Agree completely. We have an incredible locker room right now and that is because, from the outside looking in, it appears that everyone actually wants to be there. Although I'll admit that it does sting a little bit when a rival swoops in and takes our target at the last minute.

For some reason, Celtic keeps trying to sign John McGinn.
