I don't mean to actually suggest anyone should do as Spurs have done in a previous transfer window, but one thing they got right last year was getting the majority of their signings done BEFORE their big cash influx from the Bale sale was complete.
Lovren would be nice, but at 20m there are plenty just as good as he is as others have said.
Bertrand would be essentially worthless, imo. He's no better than what we already have. Unless BR worked with him while at Chelsea and thinks he can get more out of him? Thats the only optimism I have about that one.
At least Pool are so all over the place that Chelsea and Tottenham won't know who to steal

at Chelsea and on loan at Reading...
yeah, I'm in the camp of give him a shot for that price and trust BR... I can't say Ive spent a lot of time watching him and Mourinho chose a RB to play over him last season... That said, I remember him doing OK in the UCL final against Bayern.. I think if Enrique is healthy, those 2 could provide decent LB coverage, but nothing spectacular..
Also, CFC discarded Sturridge pretty easily and most were not too impressed with that signing... and Mourinho played a lot of crap up top and was not willing to give Lukakau a shot, so... whatever..

I'd be OK with that, but I would hope to not go much more... I do like that he has had a very good season in the EPL.. Some of the others I think of in his tier haven't been tested... that may be important with galatasray going after Skrtel and Agger maybe heading for the door..
I think the Varane/Hummels/Malanga/Benatia tier of defender is going for £30+

I know that seemed to be the word at some point, and I know he grew up a Chelsea fan, but this has been gaining steam for a couple of weeks now...

It would be a good move for Chelsea. He's a phenomenal young talent and would be great at Liverpool.

Not the most exciting news but it seems Ashley Cole will join AS Roma on a free as Roma tries to add a few more CL experienced players.
He and Balzaready will likely rotate, the young Brazilian Abner will be loaned and Dodo loaned/sold.
Benatia will most likely be sold as it seems that he's set on getting an oil baron type payday. . . if so, Roma will likely try to splash that extra cash on Juan Cuadrado though there's interest in some of the other usual attacking winger suspects.
At least with Salih Ucan, we've replaced Dodo's hair

I hope Cole can be a good pickup. The pace of Serie A's matches will work to his advantage.
I don't really know a lot about his locker room character but one of the club's summer plans was to mix in a few more CL and league title chase experienced veterans with all the youth.
