my problem with all of this is the conflicting stories we are getting. Tevez has given us multiple different reasons for leaving including the family, tired of the game, etc. He needs to get his story right. It is ridiculous, considering we can literally get whoever we want. He thinks that the loyalty of the fans and the club will win out. We should not be held hostage by this p.o.s. agent.

Leverage was built into Rooney's status as United's No1 player and Tevez can play that card as well. Captain, top scorer, hardest worker, game-changer, symbol of City's economic power over United: El Apache is all this. Even better, Mario Balotelli appears to have a swarm of wasps in this head, Emmanuel Adebayor is marginalised, Jô has underwhelmed and Roque Santa Cruz has barely registered in Roberto Mancini's thoughts. All of which has lent Tevez a sheen of indispensability.
quote:
The prime reason Tevez left United was that the owners of his "economic rights" needed to cash in on their investment. United were willing to pay the £25.5m fee for the contract renewal but City were prepared to go much higher: to £46m in all, according to one authoritative report, which Joorabchian has challenged.
As Tevez and his entourage extricated themselves from United, Joorabchian announced: "He's disappointed at the way he's been treated." This time we hear "Carlito" cannot get on with Garry Cook, the chief executive. How, one might ask, do you fall out with a club administrator, unless he selects the team or perhaps refuses you a pay rise, which, City claim, is the true explanation.
quote:
The strident tone of City's statements points to a willingness to fight players who cultivate the appearance of untouchability. Rooney caught United in a weak position, which is probably why he chose that moment. Tevez confronts City's strength. They could crush him or just buy another one.
quote:
Dzeko or hulk or another upper echelon forward would be the target if we could get the sale done. That being said, I expect this whole debacle to go down in the summer. Until then, tevez will just have to do his work and be patient. It is a very delicate situation.
i would take Dzeko, and most City boards are talking about Torres too
Tevez came back to the training grounds today fwiw to work with the 2nd team, a day earlier than the 1st team.
quote:
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has returned to the club's Carrington training ground on schedule.
Tevez was due to undergo a session on Tuesday afternoon following a four-day break in Tenerife.
The Argentina striker sat out the victory at the weekend against West Ham, which put Manchester City joint top of the table, as he was serving a suspension. Shortly after the victory, however, news broke that Tevez had handed in a written transfer request - which has been rejected by the club.
It is understood he is unlikely to travel to Turin on Wednesday with the squad ahead of the Europa League match against Juventus.
Manager Roberto Mancini apparently made that decision before the weekend, knowing the game was a dead rubber.

Spanish daily newspaper Sport have sensationally claimed that Carlos Tevez's transfer request at Manchester City has been instigated by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in an attempt to engineer a move for the striker.
Perez has used similar tactics in the past to ensure he signs the biggest talents in world football such as Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane.
Sport quote a "senior Manchester City executive" as saying: "I do not know for sure that Madrid are after him, but we have a well-founded suspicion."
This claim follows contrasting reports in The Guardian that Real Madrid were very unlikely to move for Tevez as they cannot afford the £30 million asking price following recent spending on players.
Jose Mourinho has admitted he could do with added striking options to help out Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema and is a fan of Tevez, but finances are said to be ruling Madrid out of a move.

This guy I sometimes watch matches with is a huge RM fan said on Wednesday that Tevez was going to RM.

While the stories have seemed conflicting, I fear that they are smaller aspects of a bigger picture. The way I understand the family thing is that he cheat on the mother of his children. She returned to argentina with the kids and carlos is not coping well. This could be him acting out. The other scenario is that this is orchestrated by his agent. If that is the case, city will not play ball. They have the resources and tevez is a good commodity. I am sure the truth will unfold shortly.

Again, I am not sure if this is an agent talking.
Here is an article written by soccernet's city correspondent. He usually has some pretty fair assessments. LINK

Edin Dzeko begs for City to take him
quote:
Edin Dzeko, Manchester City's principal target in next month's transfer window, has written to the club to say he wants to make the move happen and effectively ask if they will sign him, increasing the possibility that he will arrive as either a replacement or a new partner for Carlos Tevez.
The prolific Wolfsburg striker sent his letter to a senior executive at Eastlands earlier in the season, expressing his admiration for the club and his gratitude for their efforts to buy him in the August window. Talks broke down at that stage because Wolfsburg would not lower their asking price, in the region of £45m, whereas City valued him closer to £30m. However, City have maintained their interest in the Bosnia international and their information is that Dzeko still feels the same about the possibility of becoming the club's latest big-money transfer.

I would love to see him here. While I haven't had too much exposure to wolfsburg or the bundesliga, I think he could transition well to the EPL. From what I can see he is lethal from 8-10 yards. I was really impressed by his touch. He does very well to control the ball for being 6 foot 3. I would think that the impending resolution of the tevez situation will determine dzeko's final price. If tevez refuses to play or is difficult city may have to pony up the cash near the ballpark of wolfsburg's 40 million demand.

well and City are negotiating with Wolfsburg, trying to get the price down to 32 mil. The money doesn't really matter, but we've got to make it look good

Agreed. Dzeko would be a great pickup.

Not familiar with Dzeko can anyone give me a quick rundown on him?
Posted on 12/15/10 at 10:34 am to fouldeliverer
He is bosnian. scored 29 goals last season in the bundesliga for wolfsburg. He is six foot three and is a great target man. From what I saw good touch and very good finisher from close. Hendo may be able to give us some more insight as he is an avid fan of the bundesliga.

should be a great match tomorrow

I imagine mancini will rest as many starters as possible. Tevez, silva, kolo, yaya, etc. Should make for an interesting match. Hopefully we can contain that diver krasic.

juve goal on the counter in 43rd minute. richards tracks back but can't handle the cutback. Low cross to gianetti who boyata does not track.
ETA Jo called offsides on a goal when he was certainly onsides.
ETA again. City denied a clear penalty from a hand right in front of the official.
