Just came across my program and got all nostalgic . Perfect time and age for me being 14 and living in Orlando every summer with my Mom and her family to experience the greatest sporting event on Earth. Got to see the Netherlands, Ireland, dirty Mexicans, among others including the USMNT in an exhibition vs Australlia before the cup. Curious to hear anyone elses memories or experiences of the magical summer of 94' and thoughts on hosting again in our lifetime.

I remember it being a big deal and it was the first time i had much awareness at all of the sport globally. Don't remember much else about it.

As for in the future we probably need to implement a relegation system for our domestic league as well as move to the global calendar before it will happen again IMHO.

I didn't go to any matches but this was the first time I watched a soccer match. I didn't get immediately hooked (mostly b/c at the time I didn't have cable and couldn't follow up on any interest) but I loved watching those matches.

I was 7 at the time and was actually near Washington DC at the same time on vacation. However, I really didn't know about soccer at the time, so we didn't try to go to any games.

I was 10, but I didn't live anywhere near a venue. I bought a ton of T-shirts and watched a lot of the games on TV. I watched the US-Colombia game at a soccer camp and we went crazy. I was also watching one of the later games at my grandparents' house and the TV was zapped by lightning right in front of me.

I didn't follow it closely, but two things that stood out to me was the Escobar own goal and the Baggio PK Miss.

Baggio was supposed to be the tits in 1994, but he was hurt the entire month, and the miss in the final sealed that fate.

I was 27, and went to Dallas, as it's the closest. We stayed with my cousins outside of Fort Worth and drove in. The matches for the first and second rounds were so spread out, I couldn't use the first two sets of tickets from my package. Wife and I went to the South Korea v. Germany match, Klinsi scored right in front of us.

Took my cousin to the Argentina v. Bulgaria match, right after Maradona was sent home for using ephedrine. Wanted to see that fricker play. Did see Stoichkov, Batistuta and Caniggia in that match.

Last match of the package was second round, Sweden v. Saudi Arabia.

Also won lottery and had upper deck, Cotton Bowl tickets, and saw one of the greatest World Cup matches EVER played: Quarter-final Netherlands v. Brazil, which ended 2-3, all the goals in the last fifteen minutes. Fantastic match, never forget it.

I was 11. We had just moved to Baton Rouge. We watched as many matches as we could. I remember almost crying when we lost to Brasil in the rd of 16.

There is actually video evidence of a lot of this on my parents' home videos.

I remember:

our shirts with all the stars

Lalas' red goatee

playing Brazil so hard that we earned their respect

our almost bicycle kick goal (found it here)

packed Rose Bowl

I was there. We went up when Claudio scored in the first 36 seconds or so. Brazil star was Hernan Crespo. Signatures from AJ Woods and Brandon Pollard.

I'll never forget the way "Argentina" sounds so harsh in tone when the chants started.
