Russia is one of (if not the) largest geopolitical rivals of the US going back like 70 years. Ukraine is bleeding them, setting their economy (and military capabilities) back a deade plus.
We, the US, are getting this benefit for pennies on the dollar (the cost of our support for Ukraine, which is now next to nothing vs the cost of an actual war w Russia involving US forces).
We don't have to be Ukraines friend to ackowledge the service they're providing the US (and Europe).

Uzbekistan and Nicaragua both also helped us in Iraq, but that doesn’t mean we owe them an indefinite debt of gratitude, especially when both are now under leadership that doesn’t align with our interests.

Even the US military is unsure if the supplies Iran gave Iraqi Shiite militias were of Russian origin.

They also armed Iraq before Saddam invaded Kuwait, but then condemned the invasion.
Giving a country weapons doesn't mean you told it to invade another country.
By your standards, imagine how Russia feels about us. We spent decades trying to weaken the Soviet Union, funded fighters who killed Soviet soldiers in Afghanistan, and kept expanding NATO closer to Russia after the Cold War.
You can't act like Russia is evil for doing things our own country has done for years.

Whatever Putin is paying Trump, the ROI has been incredible. I think Trump is afaird of him, honestly. He's getting pushed around constantly.
Just in the past week ish Trump has:
-Restricted starshield for Ukraine.
-struck a deal to buy diesel (10 days worth ish)
-Canceled Granham sanctions
-Demanded Ukraine replace Z
-Totally forgiven Russia for helping Iran, who is fighting the US

To be fair, since this war started, I've said that Russia is not nearly as concerning as China.
Many of you are living in the past and act like modern Russia is the threat the USSR was.
In other words, we don't need Ukraine fighting a proxy war for us.
Trump alone has done more to undermine Russia than the Ukraine war ever could. Taking Venezuela alone hurt Russia more than Ukraine ever will.
